Molting food

I've read on numerous sites that you are suppose to buy a special type of molting food for your bird when they are molting. Is this True?

I never buy molting food for my birds. When they molt, they need protein. Because feathers is all protein. I give them hard boiled egg with the shell sometimes when they molt.
