:) HI! I just got a Budgie/Parakeet from a friend who didn't want the her anymore. Her name is Tweety and she is 9 months old. She is really agressive (she bites alot) is there any way to stop her from biteing so much? anyways all march break i taught her how to perch on my hand and she loves to go on my shoulder. But she loves my ears :rolleyes: I really hope to get a couple pictures of her to show you all! :D

I have a wonderful bird named tiki! you can see her in my sig... She is a black headed cauique. She is such a sweetie and a clown!
well a strict no whenever she bites might do the trick... and sometimes they can become aggresive if they are on your shoulder. I will *GENTLY* grab tikis beak if she bites and say no... although she barely ever bites. That was just in the begining when I bought her. I hope all goes well, congrats on your new birdy!

I noticed in one of your pictures on your site you have a purple sorta tent sleeper for tiki. Does Tiki like it? Because i bought one for tweety and i tried putting it in her cage but she went in a corner all scared and i took it out because i thought it was stressing her out. do think she just plain hates the tent thing?
ooo tiki LOVES her tent! she even sits in it in the day! lol and she sleeps in it all night. It might just take some getting used to... At first she didnt like one of the toys i gave and was scared and freaked out of it but now it is her favorite!:p

Oh boy, another birdie on PT! :D Welcome! I have two sweet cockatiels, Popcorn and Muffin. You can see them in my signature. When I just got my birds, they used to bite, but now they are perfect angels and NEVER bite at all! Its like they don't even know how any more! You mentioned your bird is now starting to come on your finger and shoulder, so I believe you're in the right track. The biting should go away with time. Remember, he's new, and still adjusting to his new home and new mommy! When my birds used to bite, what I would do was gently hold their beak, and move it to the side, saying NO at the same time. They got the idea! Now whenever I say NO, they know they have to stop what they are doing! Birds are very intelligent, so they learn fast. I would love to see a picture of your bird! Here's what you need to do........

I heard that tent thing can be dangerous. On the cockatiel board I'm on, some people's birds got strangled of suffocated to death in those. :( I wouldn't use it for a bird as small as a parakeet. My Popcorn and Muffin thought it was evil when I got them one. They refused to enter the cage and were shivering like they're going to get a heart attack, so I took it out and returned it. Later when I heard so many birds died because of it, I sighed with relief. Are you sure your's is safe Jess? I hope so!Quote:

They strangle themselves because there are threads it hangs from, but i cut them off before I put it in her cage;)
poor other birdies though:(
