Very Weird Drooling!!!!!!!

Ok, my mom asked me to post this and see if anyone has an idea why this happened.

We took our new puppy Bailey to see my parents and their dog Jake. Bailey is a 4 month old spayed female pit mix and Jake is a 3 year old neutered male Lab/GSD mix.

When we first got them together, she was happy and curious. He was afraid of her (he's not socialized). Then when we got them back to the house, he barked at her with the fur on his back up. She chased him around the yard. He seemed pretty freaked out.

Then we went to see my cousin. She has a 3 year old male boxer who is not neutered. He tried to mount Bailey, but we didn't let him do it. They ended up playing for a little bit.

Then we came back to Mom's house and Jake started barking. We let them sniff each other and Bailey decided to be submissive this time. Then Jake started drooling all over her and the floor. Like buckets of drool. He doesn't even drool when they eat right in front of him. We can't figure out if he was marking her as his territory or if he was covering up the smell of the boxer or trying to assert his dominance over Bailey. Any ideas about this one?????? We'd really like to know if this has ever happened to anyone else. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.:) !!!!

you dog has a simple case of mixed emotions about the new situation of dogs.. He inst assosiated much you said? WEll that can be a factor on why he was acting trangly. He seen a female and he felt he must have nominace but submissed. He saw a male and he felt as he need to plat *finding out whos dominant* The male mounted the other male because of dominance, Male dogs do this often *EXspecaily when not altered* .. You should assosate your dog alot more with other dogs ok, So bad behavior such as having a domince problem and a prey drive dont accure. You dog was being aggresive when his hair was on end on the scruff of his neck. My dog does that when She is being aggresive and trying to get dominace. .. The drooling thing is normal. Did your dog haver his head on the other dogs back while he was drooling? Because if he did he was tying to get his sent more suductive over the other dogs body. email me at [email protected] if you have ANY dominace or aggresion Questions.. Sounds like he was ok with Bailey because she's a young female, but when she came back smelling of an adult unneutered male, that was a different story. He most likely was just overly excited about the scents on Bailey and threatened by them as well. Chester ALWAYS drools like then when he gets hyper-stimulated and he's neutered also. Men. :rolleyes:
