PLEASE ANYONE! I am soooo desprete!!!!!!!

Chewy has been biteing a growling because he thinks he can get away with it now. He is the most out of controlle agressive dog I have ever met. He is getting worse and I'm going crazy. My hand is bleeding cause he bit me. Please can anyone help me?!?!?!!?

Whats happening is anytime I move Chewy bites my legs really hard. He's not doing the herding nip thing either cause he bites my hands, legs, arms, clothes anything he can sink his teeth into. I can't take him any where nor can I even walk in my own home any more! I'm going insane! I have no idea what to do with him! I'm calling a trainer tomrrow, maybe they can help me, although I think I know more then most of them around here! :rolleyes:

i feel stupid postign this cause no one else post there problems with there perfect dogs. I can't stand it any longer and I have waited 2 months to post this, please anyone????

I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles, Ash. How far are you willing to travel for training? I have some numbers and names of some people here, maybe I could get in touch with them for you, if you would be willing to come this far (I think it's an hour, right??)

I have a trainer here. I hate her so much, god do I hate her, grrr. The other trainers when I told them Chewy was agressive they told me I should put him down, well w/e. I'm working with him. Acctaully we go o state college almost very weekend to there petsmart. Our pet store employees are stupid and no nothing, at least down there they know that dogs have souls.

LOL, if you can't tell that was a yes, I would love ot have the number of your trainers, O gee, I need to stop talking.

Apparently you have not heard of "Naughty Nebo??" My dog is in NO WAY perfect.....I promise.......I've felt like you many times, comparing my little brat to all the perfect pet talk doggies. :(

I'm really not sure what to tell you. :( When Nebo starts getting nippy with me I'll get up and walk away from him and ignore him. I know this really does not work with every dog though....ignoring him didn't work when he was a puppy, and he was BITEY puppy. If I say "Ouch!" really loud or "Uh-uh" he'll at least stop to look at me for a bit. Somebody told me to put Vicks or Bitter Apple on my hands if he was biting, but it didn't stop him at all.

Have you tried a lot of positive inforcement (clicks/treats when he's being good) with him? It kind of sounds like he's biting you to get attention, even if it's negative attention. I know for a fact that dogs sense your feelings....when I'm in a bad mood, usually Nebo is a brat, which makes me more frustrated and upset, which makes him more of a brat.......If I just calm down, he's better.

Sorry, I wish I knew what to tell you. :(

O yea, if he is laying on the floor I will tell him he is such a good boy! Anythign he deos even if its stupid I will tell him how good of a boy he is. I will try to keep him more occupied, maybe a 4th walk is a must :( I'm al lwalked out though, blah. I dunno what to do with this guy, ::sigh::

Are you seeing a trainer or a behaviorist? I would suggest seeing a behaviorist who specializes in aggression. There's a big difference between trainers and behaviorists. Basically anyone can call themself a trainer so you have to be careful.

I make him heel and then run with him when he begins to bit I get him bacdk in the heel postiion and make him sit. every time we run adn eh does't bit he gets a treat, he has already stopped biteing when we run! Its wokring great! Thank you everyone!

I agree a behaviorist is your best bet but if there are none near you.It is hard to help with this type of thing online without meeting the dog.There is a good site with trainers and behavioists that might be able to help you find someone kind of close to you.It is www.greatpets.com They have lots of good information in their site and articles on training tips like grounding.I have been trying it on my dogs.I have learned alot there.The site has message boards and articles and all kinds of neat stuff check it out.I hope it helps.

Wow I feel the same way. Malone is *so* far from perfect. Some days, he drives me incredibly batty. He comes from behind, and jumps and nips, and then runs away. I know they say not to use the crate for punishment, but that's where he goes when he gets in a mood like that. Hang in there Ash, we're all here together!

I think there’s no such thing as a perfect anything, person, dog, cat, etc. And this especially holds true when rearing puppies. I don’t talk too much about the issues I have to work on with Oz, because they seem manageable, but we have problems just like everybody else.

I worked with him not to be a counter surfer, but didn’t think about sitting around the table eating dinner. A couple of weeks ago I took him over to a friend’s house and her father was eating dinner at the table. She said to let him off the leash and I no sooner unhooked him and he planted his 2 front paws on the dinner table and stuck his nose in her father’s plate. Argh! I was so embarrassed.

Being a herding breed, we’re also continually working on nipping. He doesn’t really bite, mainly just puts his mouth on you, but still it’s something I really don’t want him doing. He put his mouth around my nose not too long ago, so I’ve been working with him, that touching noses is acceptable, mouthing is absolutely not.

Next big issue is jumping up. He’s getting really bad at this. The other night I had picked up Maddie to bring her inside and he just launched himself at us. I managed not to get pushed over, but he hit us so hard, he ended up limping for about minute. Then last night I was taking him outside to work on heel. I had the leash and cheese in one hand and was locking the front door with the other. I wasn’t watching him while doing this and he jumped up and took the cheese right out of my hand. He got rewarded for jumping up, so we just took 5 giant steps backwards on that issue.

And last, barking at anybody or anything on the other side of the fence. Being use to 2 fairly quiet Cairn terriers, this probably isn't as big an issue as I think, but I really don’t want him barking. I haven’t yet figured out how to get across “no barking”, because as soon as I open the back door, he stops whatever he’s doing and comes running to me. So I haven’t been able to catch him in the act. I think I’m going to try going out the front door to the fence and see if I can toss a lil’ water over the fence at him, as he’s barking.

Anywho, just wanted to let you know I think most of us who have puppies are dealing with issues whether we talk about them or not.

Ash, I am sorry that you are having problems with Chewy. But I am glad to hear that you have found something that may work.
As Parnon said, there is no such thing as a perfect dog or perfect person. Don't worry, all our dogs have had their moments. Drake was and can still be a handful at times. Be patient and if your problem persists, seek help from a behaviorist. That is how we got Drake's aggression under control.

Ok, I will PM you with the names of the trainers that I have. I have not used any of them, I just got referred to them by our local pet store. One of them used to work there, and I'm positive that he is good. I know at least one of them does behavioral consults, so maybe that will help.
Also, when you're coming here to go to Petco, you should go to Wiscoy also--they are a fabulous pet store--they love all animals, and are very willing to help out or whatever. They are located in the plaza off of Atherton where Giant is (I can give you better directions if you want to go)--when we first got Kito, they helped me pick out the right crate, collar, brush, shampoo, clippers, and everything else I need--they really are wonderful.....and, in the summer (I think it's in August) they hold a doggie ice cream social on Friday nights--everyone comes and brings their dogs, and they get ice cream!!! They give you little name tags that say "Kito's mom", or in your case "Chewy's mom"--it is so cool!!!

I think Nebo and Oz have shared a few moments! (though I bet Nebo has had more of them!! lol)

When I first took him to my grandparents house, the very first thing he did was go up to my grandpa who was eating dinner, and put his paws right on the table! Luckily I grabbed him before he took a bite....he's never put his paws on the table at home before (sniffed it many times though)...but I guess this table was lower...I don't know...

Nebo is still bitey, he sucks at taking treats nicely, and he bites when playing also. He's bitten my nose too (not hard).

Nebo ALWAYS tries to jump when I have Reggie or Smokey in my arms!! He's getting a little better though, as I say "uh-uh" if he even tries to and he'll stop. He always still tries though. He has a real problem with jumping on "new" people too. When a guest comes into the house, he likes to show how "well behaved" he is by jumping on them first thing! Grrrr

He really doesn't have a problem with barking. He's a very quiet dog. If I hadn't taught him "speak" I think it'd be a pretty rare occurance to hear him bark. Though when I'm trying to get him to look at me/name game (especially in class) he likes to be embarassing and bark at me...he gets confused easily...

Other problems with Nebo....he won't listen to others like he listens to me. He likes to play fetch, so he's always bringing toys to people. The problem is, if I say "give" he gives it to me. If other people say give, he doesn't....and then it turns into tug-of-war which is exactly what I *don't* want. But my main annoying problem right now is how he lunges (play) at EVERY dog he sees! It drives me crazy!!

Ok, just thought I'd ramble on there....I could write a novel about problems with Nebo..lol...I still love that little brat though.

Ash, I don't have any extra advice to what has already been said. I'm sorry Chewy is acting up and I hope the trick you are trying works in the long run.
