Beautiful Angel Rodney King!
Dearest Rodney King, what a beautiful Angel gentleman you are! You are so handsome in that great photo, and thank you for sharing it with us. That's the only photo your dear Mom took of you, and it is precious beyond words. That thick black fur is gorgeous and looks so very soft. I'd love to be able to run my fingers through it! And you have the sweetest face, nice and round with those lovely big pale-green eyes. I wish I could reach through the screen and ...all the way to the Rainbow Bridge! ..to pet you. I can't, of course, but I know the other Angels are all petting you for me ;).
What a beautiful, touching, uplifting story of rescue and healing you have to tell! You were a stray who wandered into the yard of your dear Purrrents-to-be in early spring of 2016, looking for food. They left food out for you, and they were worried because you did not look well. You were very thin, your beautiful black fur was matted and dirty, and you had ear mites and infected scars from scratching at your ears so hard. And, bless them AND you, they decided to adopt you! ..for which they have my very deepest gratitude. You were estimated to be about seven years old. They got you the medical care you needed, and you settled in to become a deeply loving and much-loved member of the household.
What a delightful Purrrsonality you had, and always will! You were usually pretty calm, but almost each evening as your Purrrents were getting ready for bed, you would "get your frisk on" and tear up and down the hallway a couple of times. If they threw your favorite ball, you'd chase it once or twice, but that was about it. Sometimes you performed what your Purrrents came to call "Roddy's ritual" with your blue fleece blanket, and I'd love to have seen that!
You were their ruggedly handsome, sweet-natured kitty for five years. Then last month they noticed you were starting to go downhill.. losing interest in food, losing weight, sleeping more than normal. You were diagnosed with anemia and stomatitis, and the vet suspected leukemia. Rather than subject you to more testing and treatment which would have been extensive and drastic, your Mom and Dad made the difficult decision to let you go. On August 5 they held you for the last time as you embarked upon your journey to the Bridge. They love you and grieve you and miss you very much, saying "Rest in peace, Rodney King. You were loved."
Now you are a glorious Angel at the Rainbow Bridge, Rodney King, whole and healthy again, there with so many other precious, loving, and beloved critters. Please send some Angelic purrrs to the hearts of your dear Mom and Dad to reassure them that all is well, you are watching over them always and waiting to welcome them Home, and you will all be together again, One Fine Day.. You all love each other very much, don't you. What a wonderful love-filled home and life you have shared and always will!
Congratulations, darling Rodney King Angel, on being chosen today's Cat of the Day! We hope you and your dear Mom and Dad and all your family and friends are enjoying a fine celebration, full of fun and lovies and precious memories and all your favorite Angelic treats and games. The other Angels are all rejoicing with you at the Bridge.

My eyes filled with tears, reading your love filled tribute, learning your ruggedly handsome, sleek and shiny, golden eyed boy, Rodney King, has earned his angel wings.
What a lucky boy he was, having been rescued by you in his time of great need. Rodney truly was one of a kind: beautiful in looks, gentle and loving in spirit, brimming with purrsonality! I smiled from the inside out, reading "Roddy's Ritual," his nightly blanket routine, capped off with a nighttime snack! Like us humans, even animals have their own special way of de-stressing.:)

His most memorable habit was what we came to know as "Roddy's ritual" - he would climb onto his blue fleece blanket on the ottoman, pick up a corner of the blanket in his mouth and, kneading with all four paws, turn in a complete circle (always clockwise). And Rodney, sweet baby boy, run and play happily, healthy and whole again with all of our fur angels at the Rainbow Bridge, that peaceful, sun drenched place where the paper mache ornaments are there for the batting, where the catnip flows freely and treats are the order of the day, and comforting, blue fleece blankets are never out of stock!:love::love::love:
