... that today is First Seeing Eye Dog Day? On this day in 1928, the first seeing eye dog was used for the first time. Morris Frank, a blind man from Nashville, along with philanthropist Dorothy Eustis, started the first school that trained seeing eye dogs. His dog Buddy is considered to be the first seeing eye dog in America. Buddy remained a national hero for the rest of his life.
