Haiku for the New Year
"End 2014 with an act of kindness," - said some email sent by a rescue charity asking for donations. Got my brain churning, annoyed at the whole premise
Why wait for year's end
To perform acts of kindness?
Be kind all year long!
Kindness has nothing
To do with tax deductions
No deadline either!
Kindness has no price
No complicated guidelines -
Be kind - start today

I am too tired to
Come up with a good haiku.
I agree: Be kind!

I got a lot of those kinds of requests too, Karen, and my reaction is the same as yours.
Kindness doesn't need
A specific time of year
To be acted on.
-
Perfect bitter cold
Night to end the year’s first day
Even grass crunches
Stars painfully sharp
On winter nights, it seems, or
Does cold just fool us?
-
Snow is coming, so
Say the forecasters, but just
A wee bit, then rain
And still my heart cries,
"Yay!!!" deep inside, while others
Commence grumbling
I so adore snow
Winter days made prettier
At least while it falls!
