Someone help!

Ok its me again and i have no idea what to say! well really i do! I have 2 cocker spaniels and they used to be house dogs. Now we moved to a different house and my step-dad is ellergic to them for this reason they are now outside dogs. We have no dog house and so i keep them in my shed and it ishard work keeping it clean and all! Now my mom wants to get rid of the dogs because that the shed is dirty. I have no idea how to clean it! It should be easy it has gravel in one floor and concrete in the other! any ideas? P.S. I can not be around bleech.

Anyways if my mom gets rid of these dogs she is getting a mastiff which i lways wanted but still! I was thinking mabe if i could keep the shed spotless she would let me get both!

I am sorry you are having to put your dogs outside now. I hope they do okay with it. Have you tried another cleaning solution, like Simple Green perhaps? Maybe you could have a little shed built for the dogs.

That doesn't make sense to get rid of your current dogs to get another one? Your step-dad will be allergic to the mastiff too. If you have dogs that have to live in a shed, I think it might be best to rehome them through a rescue group. I'm sure you have cocker spaniel rescue in your area. I can help you find and contact them if you want.

Well really my-step dad wont be allergic to the mastiff....Cocker Spaniels have a special dandruff thing that he is allergic to. I have a shed for them but it is really starting to stink and stuff i mean I take them out on daily walks and stuff but it just isn't enough....I was thinking mabe I could just put them in the shed at night and then when i wake up in the morning take them out and tie them...Then before I leave for school put them back in the building and then after I get home take them on thier walks and let them play outside for a while. There isn't a problem with this except I need to get what is already dirty cleaned up... I was thinking go in and spay some water and then put some kind of stuff on the floor with the water. But the thing is that I can't find out what to pour on the floor! Anyways bye for now!:)

White vinegar is good for cleaning some things, it's a mild acid. But what area of the country do you live in? How cold does it get? How big is the shed?

I wouldn't keep a cocker spaniel outside, they are such people dogs, and have been companion animals for so many generations ... if they cannot be with people at your house, I would contact a rescue and re-home them. As painful as it may be for you, please consider their quality of life.

That is not a very good life for a dog. I don't mean any offense to you at all, but being tied up can cause several behavioral problems. Worse yet, the time they are not tied up, they are stuck in a shed? I am sorry but my heart breaks over this. Please convince your parents to rehome these dogs through a rescue.

I agree with Aly. Leaving a dog tied up can be very dangerous also. My friend's german shepard almost lost her paw because the tie-out became wrapped around it.

Please describe this "shed." Is there windows? How big is it? A dog run with an igloo/dog house and a cover would be much better than a shed...I imagine it has poor ventilation.

Do you keep the dogs groomed? Grooming could really help your step-dad's allergies to them. If you bath them often and brush them, they won't shed so much. You can buy a special shedding spray too. Also take them to a groomer and have them shave them completely down....back and legs (well, only do this if you could let them in the house again).

Please....if your dogs have to live like that...in a shed..consider finding them a new home. And do not get the mastiff in their place! Would the mastiff have to live in the shed? How do you know your step-dad would not be allergic to that dog too?

No the dogs are out the whole time after i get out of school almost until I go to bed.I get them out and play with them and stuff....Plus there is always a lot of kids over playing with them too!

ok about the shed it is 2 rooms and has 3 windows and 2 doors! Oh and i never thought about the runner! THANKS! great idea i'll buy then 2 runners with my x-mas money!

Ok about the alergies...The vet said that cocker spaniels are the dog your going to have allergies with if any For one they have special sweat glands....For another they have long and and last but not least the have a lot of dandruff.....Believe it or not my dogs dont shed. It may seem wierd i know but the vet said we just got lucky.(twice)

First of all, in my opinion, that is nothing short of neglect of an animal. Also, allergies are allergies and unless the dog has hair not fur the person with allergies will continue to have them. I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but this stuff REALLY makes me ANGRY. If you don't want the cockers I'll take them, but don't get another animal. It's mighty convenient that cockers are small dogs and Mastiffs are large dogs...hmmmm :mad: :mad: :mad:

please see my response to "have a heart" in another thread from you. Whatever happened to your great dane? How can you even think of taking on more? I just don't get it....

Everything is fine im getting ready to buy a dog house and a runner cable. Also early spring im getting my yard fenced in so that the dogs will have a big space next winter and this summer too! There is 2+ acres here so they should have pleanty of space...


Oh and about the mastiffs....If i do get them it wont be until next summer! thanks!

Try putting news paper down on the floor so any dust or dirt the dogs track in when they come in from outside goes on the news paper. Then once a week u can pick up the news paper and lay down some more.
