We have a 7 year old Sheltie who has this trick were you point your finger at him and say Bang Bang and he Falls over like hes dead. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/cool.gif somtimes he kicks his leg like hes suffering. you can pick up his leg and drop it and he'll just let it fall.

I have a Jack Russell Terrier mix that will do this trick from the sit-up-pretty. It isn't hard to teach. First teach the dog the down command and then to lay over on the side at the "bang" command. Add a stay command and you have a "dead dog". You can start dropping the stay command once you teach the dog a release command such as "free dog". Most will learn faster if you use treats at each step in the very beginning. Most love to "perform" on command (especially if there's goodies involved) and most of the people I know that have seen Shiloh do her dead dog routine can't get over it and want to see it again and again. We'll do it a couple of times, but she gets tired of it and bored, so we stop before then.
We also taught this to our Cattle Dog mix and then often had to remind her that "dead dogs don't wag". It got to be part of the routine with her.
My 2 year old basset hound, Daisy can do that too! But I taught her a different way. I got her to sit, and then pointed my finger at her and said "BANG!" and gently rolled her over on her back. Her reward was a good tummy rub! After a few times rolling her over, she started to get the picture. It only took one night to teach her!

I have a cat that gets into the cabinets, but he eats paper, so no bathroom privileges for him. Our first dog used to be able to open cabinets and she would have eaten the bread, too. I love hounds. They give you those mournful eyes and behind that the brain is just ticking away. And they sound so cool, too.
Yeah I love hounds too! Those eyes can really get you. Do you have one? Daisy is my first dog and the only breed my mother would allow me to have because she thought they were the cutest. After thirteen years of begging, she finally gave in to those eyes too! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif
I grew up with a beagle cross and my daughter currently has the neatest hound mix. Ella is funny and has that great "roo, roo, roo" thing going when she's disgusted with one of the other dogs. Especially when one of them has a bone she wants. I've had bassets in class when I used to teach and we had several that would come into PetsMart and they were just neato doggies. I would say horses are my number one favorite animals, but dogs and then cats follow closely after. I just love furry pets.
