What does $8 buy you
I doing Christmas very cheap this year -- most people are getting magazine subscriptions that I obtained for free. Others are getting homemade gifts that cost about $5 each.
Mom keeps asking for a sweatshirt that says something about "Grandmom" on it. I looked and looked, but couldn't find anything in her size (and my price range) so I decided to make one.
Looking at a distance, its a glittery tree.

A closer look shows the name of all her grandchildren in calligraphy.

I did it free-hand so the "tree" is going uphill a bit, but I'm sure mom won't care because its made specially for her
and the bonus is: I finally found a use for the rhinestones I bought a good 15 years ago. The scary thing is I knew exactly where to find something I haven't used in over a decade. I never throw anything out that might have a future use. :o

Oh my word you are so talented, what a great xmas gift, those are the ones that are the most special, people spend big dollars, but honestly this is how xmas should be, a token of love to another you love ,just like the presents you have made , well done, i am so envious of how talented you are.:):D

That's beautiful, perfect. What a WONDERFUL gift for your mother!

Holy Cow! She is going to LOVE this gift! Well done, good job. Like the color of the shirt you selected, too.
He heee, wait till the grands see their names! Another bonus with this gift!
-
Kim,
WOW!!!! I can't see why she wouldn't love it!!! Great idea!
-
I'm so excited to see mom's face when she opens it.
Cam's the only one getting real gifts, and I stuck to clearance centers and sales. I got him a Nintendo DS game at 5 Below for $5 (gee, funny price for that store  ) and I wrapped it last night, along with my mom's gift and a couple others. I left them on the table and first thing this morning, Cameron checked the name tags. He said "This one is for me! And I know what it is - a DS game! I can tell my the shape of the box." How does a 5 year old know these things?

What a loving and priceless gift - one that your mom will cherish forever. Gifts given from the heart are worth so much more since so much of yourself goes into it.

The shirt is not only made by you- on top of that it looks like a professional designer piece. It is just great :)
