What makes a hot thread hot? Some never reach that status. I thought I had it figured out, based on the number of comments posted, but now I don't think that's it.

A thread needs at least 15 posts OR 100 views to become marked as a "hot" thread. We could change those numbers, that's just what the setting is right now.
