Update on mini-6/1/10
Ever since I put the two baby gates in my bedroom door, Mini has become very depressed. She hides under my bed and is very cranky. I spoke with my best friend and she's willing to take her in, since she has no other animals and her condo is peaceful. I told her I'd pay for all her food and litter and stuff.
I think it's best. I can't stand to see her like this. She'll be going to Susie's house in about a week. I want to get her to the clinic so they can sedate her and either lion shave her or cut off the mats that I think are making her miserable.
I feel very badly about this. I know it's only been a week. But when I had her in my bedroom with the door closed, she was a totally different cat. She'd sleep on my bed at night, cuddle next to me. Now she doesn't.
It's for the best.

Absolutely. You mentioned before that you had a friend she could live with - Mini obviously is best as an"only". You are doing what's best for her!:)
I hope we get uppy-date pics and reports! :D:love::love::love:

Donna, I think you're doing the right thing here. She sounds like she'll be much happier as an only cat.:) I'm glad that you've been able to find a her a wonderful peaceful loving new home.:)

I have found it very difficult to integrate adult cats. It surely can be done, and I have done it myself, but, it takes a long time. Months, sometimes. And, the hissing/growling is just so common.
You could consider giving Mini more time, like a month. And, I might not look to add other adult cats into your household after this. Kittens are much easier.

Johanna,
She's miserable. She needs to be an only cat and that's where my friend Susie comes in. She has no other animals in her condo and her daughter has been wanting an older cat for a while.
I'm worried about Mini as she's been hiding under my bed ever since damn Buddy jumped the baby gates while I was asleep. I knew I put the gates up too soon and am so angry at myself. I coaxed her out from under the bed with kitty treats. She looks miserable. She's got mats and I believe they're causing her alot of pain. I'm going to bring her to the clinic I went to last week to see if Dr. Stinkney can sedate her and either cut out the mats that are making her miserable, or give her a lion cut.
I hate to see an animal in pain and it makes me cry to think that she is in pain and there's nothing I can do about it till Tuesday.

Some times it just happens. I think your right she would be happy as an only child.

She went to the vet yesterday. They sedated her and found she has an old, poorly healed fracture in her right front paw as well as arthritis. No wonder she's always growling. She also had cat litter caked in her pads, which they cleaned out and trimmed her back nails. They also cleaned her ears and Frontlined her. She can't clean her back side so they did it, and trimmed the fur. She didn't have too many mats. She's now utd on all her shots.
One vet bill I didn't need.
Now I've got a problem. My friend said that she can only keep the cat for a couple of weeks. It doesn't seem fair to move her from here for such a short time. She hates other cats (although 16 year old Murphy has been in there with her since last night). Murphy was itching to go into my bedroom, so I figured WHY NOT?? All was well. Mini was kind of out of it so I wasn't too worried. Murphy is still in there sleeping on top of the bed. Mini is in her corner under the bed.
Any advice? I'm DESPERATE and angry that this jerk who owned and professed her to be his "baby", treated her so badly by neglecting her.

I'm taking Mini to MY vet on Thursday for a thorough check up. She's just not right and I do not want her going to my friend's house who has over 14 rescues and ferals in her basement, without peace of mind.
My vet will take an x-ray of her leg and decide what the outcome should be. This poor girl is in agony. She's got cat litter stuck in her paws again and won't even let me near her to help without her trying to bite me. She is miserable, and I don't want that.
I'm very concerned right now about her pain and whether it can be controlled or if there is something else going on. She won't bear any weight on her right paw and I think the pain is excruciating for her.
I'll let you know what happens.
-
Poor little one, I am glad she has you who cares about her. I hope there is something that can be done to make her comfortable!
-
Donna, I'm so sorry to hear this.:( Hopefully your vet will be able to find out what's going on and it'll be easy to treat. I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers.
-
God bless you and Mini both, Donna.
Please be well again soon, dear little one.. We are all sending you all the love and healing energies and good wishes that we can.
-
Prayers for Mini, that her paw can be fixed up and she will be comfy. Bless you, Donna. If she has any convalescence time, that might help her bond with you more...you will be the bearer of food, treats and Love.:love:

I called my vet this morning at 7:30 and she has an appt for 9:30 today. I'll let you know what happens when I get back.
It's a good thing my vet allows me to make payments or I would be royally screwed.
-
Thank you Donna. I sure hope that your vet can find a way to ease Mini's pain.

Me too, Gayle. When I was trying to catch her to get her into the carrier, it was awful. I had to pry her with a plastic coat hanger to get her out from under my bed. I hope I didn't do more harm than good. She put up a real struggle. I would never do anything purposely to hurt that beautiful little girl. She's been through so much in these past couple of weeks. LES. I can't help it.
I opted not to have bloodwork done. He's going to put her in a "chamber" to sedate her and then he's doing an x-ray and a complete physical and call me with what my options are. It does not look good.
I will never ever take in another stray cat. PERIOD. No exceptions.
I HATE those people who did this to her.
