What a sweet bunny Trapper is! Congratulations on being Pet of the Day! He has such an adorable face!

I was wondering what your experiences are with having a free-roaming bunny? I don't dare to leave my bunny out of her cage without my supervision. I'd be afraid she would create havoc and chew through cables and kill herself...I really want to let her roam free all the time (and wake me up in the middle of the night, sitting on my pillow :) Are there any big problems?

Hi there Trapper! Wow, what an amazing rescue story your Mommy tells! I'm so relieved to hear you were treated so lovingly before you found your forever home! And what a happy home it is! Sounds like you really know how to keep your humans hopping!!:D What a precious little prankster you are, chasing the hammies and wheekers, tossing around your yogurt yummies! And to top off your list of very impressive credentials, you're a love bug to boot!! What a cutie pie, that's for sure! Just look at that sweet face and those precious paws!! And Trapper, tell your Mommy I remember well your dear, departed bunster bud Q-Tip...You have big shoes to fill, but it sounds like you're well on your way! Rabbits are precious and loving creatures. I can not imagine my life without a house rabbit. The House Rabbit Society webpage has a ton of information at www.rabbit.org and I highly recommend it. Also, the House Rabbit Handbook is a terrific resource. Without it, who knows how many cords would have been chewed in our house? Not to mention the danger of these kinds of activities to rabbits.

I had to laugh at Trapper's behavior---running in circles, underfoot, etc. That sounds just like out Bibb before he was neutered. He is much more comfortable and relaxed now that he is no longer ruled by pesky rabbit hormones!

Trapper, I love that photo of you, one would never know what a little mischief maker you are. I love the game of 'kick the rabbit, trip the human' LOL My goodness you are really busy chasing the hamsters and harrassing the little piglets and falling in love with the duster, at least that way you won't get in trouble. lol
It also sounds like you are quite the Gourmet, loving those treats including the fingers that go with it. lol Congratulations dear, sweet, Trapper, Our Very Best Pet of the Day.

Aww, what a sweet-heart you are, Trapper!! I'm glad that your mom has the time to give you those nice banana fingers!! Be careful with those hammies, your duster might get jealous LoL. Actually, it must be fun to have all of those friends! All those little friends, but still, friends!! Sounds like you have a wonderful and rather large family and have lots of fun!! To answer Olivia77 - when bunnies chew thru electrical wiring (which Trapper has done more than once) - they usually stop when they get a tingle, and it's not as dangerous as it sounds. I've gotten the same tingle from touching exposed wiring - it isn't the most comfortable thing, but it also isn't electrocution. It WOULD be dangerous if current ran through their bodies, but that would require two places where exposed wire is in contact with their bodies, and usually (almost always) there's only one place where they touch the exposed wires.

It's a complete joy to have rabbits running around freely - you have to rabbit-proof your home (block off or cover wiring and other things they might chew), and you have to give them something that they can chew on so they're not inclined to go for the wires. Most of the books about rabbit ownership cover how to rabbit-proof your home. I also had to block off one room entirely (it's an office/recording studio, and chewed wires in there would cost me a lot of money), and I simply put a blockade across the bottom two feet of the doorway.

I hope you can find a way to grant your bunny total freedom, because it is so rewarding to have a happy bunny hopping around the house.

To anyone else who is concerned about Trapper and the hamsters - his typical reaction to a hamster is to curiously sniff at him or her, but he's never shown any aggression to them, even when they sit in his food bowl and stuff their cheeks with his food.
