Ms Fiore had recently moved to Los Angeles from Las Vegas. She had worked as a model in advertising and for Playboy as a co-ordinator for their Girls of Golf events.
The Vancouver Province says an unnamed police source indicated Ryan Jenkins had been taken into custody.
Peel Region Police Staff Sgt. Keith Brodie told the Province a man was detained after an Air Canada flight landed in Toronto around 11:30 p.m. ET. He did not identify the man.
Jenkins was believed to be on the run in Canada.
A former Calgary real estate developer and reality TV show contestant, Jenkins was charged with murder Thursday in the death of Jasmine Fiore, 28.
The former model's nude body was found last Saturday, stuffed in a suitcase that had been thrown into a metal trash bin in Buena Park, southeast of Los Angeles. Her teeth and fingers had been removed in an apparent attempt to prevent identification.

Ryan Jenkins, seen in photos provided by police and from a reality-TV show website, was the subject of an international manhunt before his body was found Sunday.
The Calgary native was accused in the death of his ex-wife, swimsuit model Jasmine Fiore, whose mutilated body was found in a Los Angeles dumpster on Aug. 15.
RCMP responded to a call Sunday afternoon about a dead person in Hope, 150 kilometres east of Vancouver, and then called investigators who were part of the massive manhunt for Jenkins, said Sgt. Duncan Pound of the RCMP's border integrity unit.
Crime scene investigators identified Jenkins through fingerprints.
They don't yet know how long the 32-year-old real estate developer was at the motel before his body was discovered, Pound said. The Coroners Service of B.C. is investigating.
Police wouldn't disclose a cause of death but Farrah Emami of the Orange County District Attorney's Office in California, which is in contact with Canadian police, said Jenkins had apparently hanged himself at the Thunderbird Motel in Hope.
Jenkins disappeared last week, and his boat was found Wednesday at a marina not far from the U.S.-Canada border south of Vancouver.
Police received a number of reported sightings of Jenkins that proved false. One man was taken off an Air Canada flight to Toronto from Vancouver on Friday night and another was questioned aboard a Vancouver transit bus on the weekend.
Fiore's body was found stuffed in a trash bin in a park southeast of Los Angeles. Her teeth and fingers had been removed, making identification difficult.
The former bikini model was identified through serial numbers on her breast implants. She was badly beaten and preliminary reports indicate she had been strangled.
The U.S. Marshals Service was offering a $25,000-US reward for information leading to Jenkins's capture. Earlier Sunday, RCMP confirmed he was in Canada, as suspected.
