Pit Bull in Durham, NC
My co-worker had received this e-mail from her friend. Her friend lives in Durham, NC.
I have a request for help. I just rescued a pit bull from the woods near my home. I am desperately seeking a good home for him. He is an excellent dog with a few health problems - that I unfortunately can't keep. Do you know anyone (or yourself for that matter) who would make a good home for a dog like him?
I had e-mailed my co-worker the website for a pitbull rescue in Linwood, NC and an independent animal rescue center in Durham, NC. If anyone on here is interested, please let me know. The only information I have is the above e-mail. I'll keep you updated as I get updated.
Thanks,
Beth

Good luck.

Do we know what the health issues are? How is the dog with other dogs??

I pray he finds a nice home.

I would love to help but at the moment I can't!
I'll pray that he finds a good home.

Here's an updated e-mail on the dog.
Julia,
This is what I can tell you about him. I rescued him on Monday - He has been living in the woods near my house for at least 6 months. The dog officer had been trying to get him for quite some time and he managed to avoid that (so he is smart). When he followed me home on Monday I brought him to the vet and got him up to date on his vaccines and got rid of his fleas. He is on meds for his skin- antibiotics since he had scratched so much and made cuts - it is starting to look better already. The vet approximated his age as 4-6 years but he has damage to his teeth so it was hard to tell. And his only major health problem is that he has heartworms which I have not started treating yet - because I could not afford that all at one. He also needs to be neutered. He is good in the house - he has only went pee once the first day. He is good with Hannah and she is usually bad with other dogs! He is very gentle with people and wants nothing more than to be near you. He has shown no aggression towards people and hannah and him have only had one incident. (nothing major and they stopped when scolded). He has taken well to a leash and I can walk him reasonable well. I have also taught him to sit and he does that now on command fairly well for food. Additionally he seems to learn quickly what is ok and what is not. He is not allowed on the bed while hannah is and he asks but never gets up and goes to his bed when told to do so.
His main problems are he will not go in a crate, he tends to want to jump up, and of course the heartworm thing. (and if you are me you view his desire to be a lap dog as not a wonderful thing!)
So my overall assessment is he needs a home where he will be well loved and given so training but he is eager to please and would love to be someone's baby. I am borrowing a digital camera tomorrow and I will send you his picture.
Again thanks for all your help and thank your friend Beth for me.

What a wonderful thing you have done, making it possible for this sweetie to find a forever family. Thank you so much for taking him to the vet and attending to his health needs. He sounds like such a good boy and will, I'm sure, make someone a very special companion. Looking forward to seeing his beautiful face!:) Again, thank you so much for being this pup's guardian angel!!

Jennifer is calling the dog Finn. I too can't wait to see a picture.

Notice his ears. Jennifer said it looks like someone cut them off with scissors. :(
I have six more photos of Finn if you would like to see them.

Oh my! Someone cut them off with scissors? How horrible!
Poor Finn! HW treatment is so expensive. Did your friend get an estimate on how much it would cost? I would be willing to pitch in to cover the cost.
Finn looks like a sweetheart. He will be in my thoughts.

Rescue Pit Bull
I am the foster mom for Finn. I am trying to find him a good home. If anyone has any suggestions on finding him a good home let me know. He is currently listed with a pit bull rescue out of Linwood, NC. He is a sweet dog and very smart - he has learned to sit and comes when called. He would love to be someones forever pet - and would like to be a lap dog if possible!
He is also good with other dogs (I have a small female dog and they seem to get along well). He is also very respectful of house rules and is house trained. I am working on crate training him - he doing well with that.
