Death toll up to 150...
Oooh, I am so sad about the earthquake that hit L'aquila in Italy.
My parents and brothers live 180 miles from the epicenter (near Naples) but they certainly felt it. Everyone in thier condo evacuated. I called my mom and she said that there was a lot of panic but everyone soon realized that the epicenter was further away.

Prayers for all those effected by this quake.

Yes, I now remember too. She lives in Vicenza. That is probably too far away to have felt anything.
-
I am crying as I read the reports. So very sad...so very tragic...
-
I heard that 60,000 people are living in tent cities :( That is heartbreaking and unimaginable. My prayers to all effected.
Claudia
PS Can I ask why this is in Dog House?
-
She posted it in the Dog House herself, probably because that is where we put stories that may upset people.
-
Such a tragic event.:( I have wondered all day if we have any Pet Talkers or family members in the affected areas. My thoughts and prayers go out to everybody.:(
Carmen, I'm so glad your family is safe. You must be beside yourself with worry and concern. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Tell you family there we all wish them the best and a fast recovery, prayers for everyone effected.

If I read that right most of the deaths where in an historical district? Is L'aquila a densely populated city?
Living in an earthquake prone area my thoughts go out to all affected by this quake and aftershocks.

No source but the USA GOV has only "donated" $50,000 to the rescue effort. After what we spent on bailouts, $50K is a microspeck on my moms big screen TV.
EDIT My source has a lot of Tinfoil Hatters.
