The stove is in front of a heating grate. On these cold winter days, the warm air rises up the wall behind the stove and is deflected by the shelf back down onto the stovetop. Clearly the ideal place for a nap.

Looks like the best option on a cold winter's day to me. You get all the heat that's going and can keep an eye on the food cupboards! Perfect.
Oh yeah- the stove is a favorite here too. Although Filou doesn't have such a nice one. That cerane is for storing heat, so cats love it.:)
