It is played with an odd shaped ball. For some reason it is called a "pigskin" although it doesn't look, smell or taste like pig.

Then one of them runs to the end of the field and does a very strange dance.

Sometimes they jump all over each other and make a big pile.

Not to worry, unlike your football there are lots of breaks in the action -- purrfect for eating or napping!

This is most helpful! The girls are reading it over and over again in order to commit the finer points of the rules to memory. They will get so much more out of the Superbowl experience if they understand what is going on.

Edwina and Eddie, to tell you the truth, I've always wondered what this game was about. You know, over here, it's not quite the same. First of all, the ball is round, but whether it's made from pig skin or not, I don't have a clue. :o However, some things are the same.... the ball is kicked and the humans (typically boys) run after it like mad. They also do this funny dance near the thing with a net in it - but I've not seem them end up in a pile alltogether... would be fun though! :D

Edwina and Eddie, you look like terrific players, especially you, Eddie! I think you're quite a good dribler and I believe you'll win Gold one of these days! :D

Eddie, that is really what the boys needed. They can't wait to do that pile thing and only want to ask whether girls can pile up too;)

Thank you very much for the insight, Eddie and Lady Edwina! This silly game never made any sense to me even though my cousins and I used to play two-hand touch very often. Soncat is the sports guru of the family and I must say he's very patient when I ask him what's going on. To me, the best part of football is the food and the end of the game!
