Turn in your "I Voted" stickers at Chick-fil-A and get a free chicken sandwhich. For those who don't have Chick-fil-A's I've also heard of Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Hagan Daz, and others giving away items.
I heard starbucks was told not to do this it was against voting rules or something...
It's illegal under federal law to reward someone for voting.
There was a big story about Starbucks getting in trouble for their ads offering people free coffee (blech, starbucks coffee). They regard it as paying someone to vote, which is illegal.
LH, my reward for voting is the honest to gosh glow of satisfaction i get when i push back that curtain. yeah i know i'm sappy about the whole thing, but i just love it. now as for starbucks....at work i'm known as the coffee super user and i have a hidden stash of tim hortons for pm and starbucks cafe verona for the am get up and work buzz :D
For those folks who vote, don't you feel proud when you do it? I actually feel great and leave the polls with a huge smile on my face. I feel very proud and lucky to live in a country where I can vote freely. It's nice to be a part of the voting process. It's like game 7 of the World Series or the final minutes of the Super Bowl. I just feel like the country is coming together for this one thing. It doesn't matter who you vote for, as long as you vote.
I feel bad for folks who don't vote (I actually am related to one such person). I feel sorry for them. They'll never know how it feels to be a part of something great.
Just thinking out loud. :)
