Meet Napoleon and Julius
So sadly my almost 6 year old bunny Houdini passed away on Monday. I wasn't planning on getting a rabbit anytime soon but I was on craigslist and saw an ad for rabbits very close to me and decided to check it out. I went over there Friday and the girl had 9 rabbits in pretty terrible conditions. They were sitting in their own urine and feces about an inch deep. The little baby I got has it the worst off since he is white he is dirty and also has fly bites on his ears. I couldn't leave them behind they looked like they needed me and their owner looked overwhelmed with all the rabbits. I think she had 4 adults and 5 babies or something like that. They were all inside of a large dog kennel/run outside. One male was in a small wire cage inside of it in the middle. He was the oldest. She had said she gave him to a little girl down the street and he came back home a few days later dirty and sticky. Then there was another female loose inside of the dog kennel. There was another small hutch with the mother and 5 babies. There was a hutch by it's self with the older boy I got. Hopefully giving some away would make it easier on her to take care of them.
They seem to be doing good in their new hutches but seem a little frightened of the new surroundings. Here is the older buck who is 8 months old named Julius he older brother to the smaller one. This person let her rabbits just live together and breed litter after litter of mutt rabbits. The mother is a mini lop and the father has upright ears and looks to be a mixed breed himself.
He is adorable a little harliquin guy.

And the little dude Napoleon. Notice how his underside is stained yellow from urine. He is about 7 weeks old. The owner said she didn't even know the doe was pregnant and she gave birth in a hole she dug and the babies weren't discovered until they were about 2 weeks old. :speak:

Hello and welcome to PT, Napoleon and Julius!
A Harlequin! Probably my most favorite pattern rabbits come in. :-) Julius sure is a handsome guy, and I love those crazy ears of his. Napoleon is super cute with those wide eyes and floppy ears, he looks so incredibly soft!
Hopefully their previous owner will shape up and realize that she isn't doing a lick of good with breeding. My thoughts going out to those buns still there.

Wow, I'm glad you found these babies. They really need someone like you right now.
Julius is so adorable! I love his coloring and I absolutely adore his wonky ears!
Napoleon is also just too cute. His little brown spotting around his nose is so adorable. :D :D

They are gorgeous! Thank you so much for saving these two cuties. Did you let her know rabbits can be spayed, and will live longer healthier lives as a result? If you have her email address, I'd be happy to email her about it, as those conditions sound deplorable, and she should not let more babies happen.

I miss my bunny Billie who passed away last year...

I'm so sorry that Houdini had to leave for the bridge. But I'm glad that you opened your heart for Napoleon and Julius! I'm sure Houdini will be very happy about this :)
