What is Scout's Gotcha story?:)
I saw her at the petstore adoption center where I got Jazz a year earlier and I fell in love. She was stuck in a large cage with four other adult females and none of them were getting along. The woman who ran the adoption center knew me from Jazz (and the fact that I stopped by at least once a month) and started telling me her sad story.
Scout was rescued in a neighboring county by someone who saw two boys stuff her in a bookbag and playing football with her. Once she got into the shelter they discovered she was pregnant and was spayed to end the pregnancy. She then suffered a hematoma (sp?) at the spay site and had to stay in the clinic for a couple more weeks. She'd been in the system for about 4-5 months when I saw her.
It took a couple of weeks to convince Richard to let me bring her home and the rescue let me "try her out" for a week or so before making the official adoption. In fact, they waived the adoption fee just because they wanted her in a good home so I made a "donation" in her name.;)
I shed some tears over this kitty. When I thought Richard wasn't going to agree I bawled. Something just drew me to her and I knew there was a bond instantly.
Also, she is the reason I finally joined PT. I had lurked for a year getting tips on how to introduce Jazz to Ripley but trying to add a third cat meant I needed to join and ask questions. So along with Scout's anniversary it's also my PT anniversary.
Happy gotcha day Scout! You are such a lovely kitty.
