"...about 40 animals -- including 14 cats at the Cat Practice, pets in apartments, and a dog at the neighboring Cat & Dog Boarding & Grooming at 1823 Magazine St. -- had died in the fire that federal fire officials suspect was the work of an arsonist. Nearly a block of historic buildings was heavily damaged and about 10 apartments were destroyed.
Melba, an 18-month-old calico, and Mr. Boy Boy, a 9-month-old gray cat with black stripes, were saved because they had been sneezing and were isolated on the first floor of the building with the one other cat saved inside the Cat Practice..."
