Quote:
Administration and industry officials said oil companies enjoyed similar status in the Chukchi Sea from 1991 to 1996 and in the Beaufort Sea since 1993 and there was no effect on polar bear populations.
So it was okay for prior administrations to allow this, but the BUSH administration does it and it's evil?
If George Dubbya is saying it's okay to ANNOY polar bears in an effort to get oil and natural gas, let's send HIM there. He's THE most annoying person I know. He is SUCH an idiot.
This country went 82,192 days without a terrorist attack on U. S. soil...until GW became president.
Yup..he blew it! (sorry...bad pun...:rolleyes::rolleyes:)
He made it less than 280 without his first terrorist attack!
(what silly fun this is! Totally meaningless but fun!)
More numbers....4,097 --- number of US soldiers killed since we invaded Iraq
30,333 estimated wounded US soldiers.
Number of Iraqis killed or wounded -- no one is keeping track...10,000? 20,000? 100,000?
There are, have been, and will be plenty of threads about Iraq, Afghanistan, terrorism, etc.
This isn't (or didn't start out as) a thread about Iraq, let's keep it that way.
Why? This thread is about the damage done by the Bush Administration. The many, many people killed as a result of his decisions certainly are a part of that damage.
It's more than just polar bears!
No, the thread is about a news article relating to a specific policy......which, as it turns out, is not a policy of the current administration at all, rather it is a continuation of a policy which has been in effect according to the news article, since the 1990's.
Wow! I didn't realize you are the author of the thread!
I didn't realize you were, either.
The thread cannot logically be about destruction caused by the Bush administration, as the policy in the article isn't even a policy of the current administration.
You guys are going to be awfully bored in 6 months or so.........
According to WWF, the population is at 20-25K individuals, which is up from 5K in the '70s. Numbers from the '80s are a subject of debate, as they range from 20-45K.
Being that oil production in the arctic only really took off in the '70s, it looks like the harassment hasn't harmed them at all.

It just adds salt to the wounds of this species. Polor bear numbers are
already down from the effects on melting polar ice from global warming
& now what officials are saying is " Don't worry about harming the bears, full
steam ahead" for the Oil & Gas industries.
