Bean's diary entry from Catster

Hi everybody,

Well, today I am sequestered in the nice cool house because I almost died this past weekend (GASP!). My new puppy sister has really messed up my days and nights and so now, I 'm going out later in the day instead of the morning and coming home later and later. The other day I came home at noon! (after having been out since 12pm the day before....that's 24 hours of non-stop tramping!) My mom didn't sleep real well with me out but she figured I'd be home by the morning. She was supposed to go away for the weekend on Saturday but ended up not leaving til Sunday cause I was missing and then sick (sorry Mom!). She was imagining that horrible things happened to me so she and Sunny (my puppy sister) and my other human walked around the block calling for me like this..."Bean, Bean, pishwissshhhwisshwisswisssh, Bean"...like every few steps. (hehe). When she got home, she honked her car alarm for me 3 times because sometimes when I hear that, I know it means she's home and I come from wherever I am. I heard it but I was so sick and tired from the heat...it was all I could do to drag my furry little butt out from under the neighbors porch where I was sleeping and across the street to our driveway. I couldn't even make it to her; I stopped under her car and rested. She came and got me and I was so hot and limp. She put me in the air conditioned house and put small amounts of cold water on my face and back. She was mad she didn't have a syringe in the house to give me water cause I wasn't drinking on my own. Eventually, I cooled off and even left the air conditioned room on my own and went and had a little drink and some crunchies. It took about 48 hours before I was back to my normal crochety self and meowing to go back outside. I cried and cried and cried last night until she gave in (against her better judgement and caused her another sleepless night....silly mommy!). I went out at 8pm last night cause it was nice and cool out and I came home at 7am (mommy was SOO happy!). She was worried I would be out again in the daytime heat but I'm not stupid. I was home by 7am so she could "put me in" and keep me in until it's cooler tonight.

So...that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Mom's not exactly why I got sick...maybe I was exhausted, overheated and maybe I ate something yucky. I did lose 3 pounds so now I'm a very lean 11 pounds but that might be my "summer weight". Mom isn't sure if I lost it all at once or if it's been a gradual thing. She stuck some droncit down my throat just in case. She hates tapeworms!

I KNOW Moon is an easier cat cause he stays inside but he's not nearly as entertaining as me, now is he? Hehe
