I just helped my bosses worm pill their cats...not really easy. They live on an acreage, and both are indoor - outdoor.
Do these topical parasite applications also help worms? Are there any that do?
Thanks!

I just called my vet and spoke with a tech. If you're referring to heart worm, which cats do get, Frontline also claims to kill mosquitoes which cause heartworm.
From what I know, Frontline and Advantage kill flea, flea eggs and ticks. Revolution kills fleas, flea eggs, ticks, mosquitoes and earmites.
Another way to see if the cats have worms is to look. Yeah, yeah, I know it's gross. I've looked in both poo and vomit. If you see what looks like string and it's moving, take him to the vet.
There is a new one called Advantage Multi. My vet sells it and they told me about it last week when I asked what would be best to use on my Dad's cat. Anyway, she said it kills fleas, ear mites, intestinal parasites and prevents heartworms. I think it doesn't kill ticks.

Oooo--I hadn't heard of Adv. Multi! Thanks! Wonder if it's non-Rx, like regular Adv? I can't tell in that link.
Here is the website from Bayer, who makes Advantage Multi: http://www.advocate-spot-on.com/
I sent the links to my bosses....Michael will never need bandaids again!:D
Just wondering how long the $80 would last for two cats....might be worth it.
Revolution is for worms as well.
This is from their first paragraph on the site:
We the cats of America deserve freedom from the oppression of our worst enemies: fleas, heartworm, ear mites, hookworm (Anycylostoma tubaeforme) and roundworm (Toxocara cati ). Complete parasite protection begins and ends with Revolution® (selamectin).
My mom and dad use Frontline Plus for all of their cats except one, Lucey, because she get a huge bald spot from it. They put Revolution on Lucey and she does not get an allergic reaction from it at all. It doesn't kill ticks, so she does need a separate topical for that.
