Madison County - Police are investigating an early morning accident that led to a man's death and closed down State Road 9.
Police say the victim's pickup truck drove up a guardrail and then flipped upside down in a creek south of Pendleton.
The driver, identified as 52-year-old Glenn Barker of south Madison County, freed himself and started walking along SR 9. That's when police say he was hit by a car driven by 34-year-old Clarence Fanning of Anderson. Before Fanning could reach Barker to help, Barker was struck a second time, this time by a van. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither Fanning or the driver of the van, John Herman of Greenfield, were injured, but were both visibly shaken. State Road 9 was closed for four hours while the accident was investigated.
