Pill cutters
Not sure if I mentioned this earlier or not (I am blonde, y'know) but a vet assistant told me that a good way to cut small pills in half or quarters is to use a clipper for parakeet's nails. According to her, it works every time. I didn't even know there was such a thing but I have to go to Pet Smart soon so I'm going to check it out. Has anyone had experience w/this? Sometimes when I cut the Clomicalm into quarters, it practically becomes powder because the pill is so small.

You can buy a Pill Splitter at the pharmacy. It looks like a small plastic container with a cutter and a plastic guide. It'll keep the pill from flying or falling to the floor when cutting, which could happen with the clippers.

I've used the pill splitter for years as well.

Pill splitter from Walmart works great for me.

;) My Vet will split my pills for me.. Or like the others said you can buy those pill splitters at Walmart.. I have good luck with just using a small knife if I have to..

I've always used a small paring knife but the Clomicalm tablets are so small, then to quarter them sometimes is problematic. I bought a pill splitter and it broke on the first use, so I gave up on that.

I have a pill splitter that I bought from CVS or Walgreens... there were a couple to choose from, and I used it for Mac's thyroid pills for the 1 1/2 yrs he was here and never had an issue. Maybe you just need to look for a better quality splitter???

I have found that if you use gentle pressure on the splitter it works much better. First time I used it I whacked it too hard and crushed the pill, so I learned that firm and gentle does it!
