Last night Yum Yum started wheezing and coughing and almost threw up her first hairball but she didn't. I was hoping she wouldn't have them too. :(

poor thing. I have never had to deal with that before, I am allergic to cats. Is it that bad?
You might want to try some of the Hairball remedy stuff that you can get a Petco or Petsmart. It might help her pass it through instead of hacking it up. It is so distressing to seem them going through that and not being able to do anything for them. :(
Yeah..I know how you feel. She was so scared looking cause that was her first one. She was like mommy what is going on??? :(
I hate when Noah does that...I feel so bad for him... :(
If you don't mind me asking, what's a hairball?
When kitties groom themselves, they swallow a lot of hair. Hair is not digestable and can accumulate in their tummy. So, up it comes. :( Poor things...Quote:

That's why it's so important to change food/brush/groom them.
My cats have never had hairballs, but I've heard that feeding cats a small tin of sardines in oil every couple of weeks helps as the oil helps keep the digestive tracts clear.
