Remember Meelah?

Not a current picture, taken in April.
Meelah is the cat my sister rescued from my uncle's barn at 4 weeks. She had fallen from the rafters and the mother never came to get her. My sister also now has Milo (an orangie), Meelah's brother, who she got when he was ready to leave the nest. Both are about 7 months old now. Milo just was 8lbs when he went in for his neuter. Mela is only 4lbs yet. The vet is testing her for feline herpes. Fortunately for how sick she could be, she's doesn't act like she's really sick. She plays well, but maybe not quite as much as her brother. I've got to hand it to my sister, I'd have never been able to spend as much in vet bills for a cat, I'd have had to rehome her to somebody who has the means to give it a try. But my sister is set on getting her healthy and is going to get pet insurance as soon as Meelah is well enough to qualify. In the meantime, has anybody had a cat with feline herpes before? The vet says it should clear up by a year of age if treated.

We've had LOADS of herpes and stuff here. It wasn't treated but symptomatically, though.

Meelah has gotten a clean bill of health, passed all her bloodwork, and has finally been spayed. She is 3.6 pounds at 9 months old. The vet says she will probably never be over 4 pounds.

My 19 year old Tabitha has never weighed more than 7.5 pounds! She currently is a svelt 6.5. She is just a petite little thing, just as Meelah may be. Tabby has been in great health all her life, but is currently going through some setbacks with infected teefers and gums. But the medicine helps. Glad Meelah got a clean bill of health!

My Puddy stayed tiny; she weighs only 5 lbs. and she's 12 now. What a little fuzz nugget Meelah must be. I'm glad all checked out well for her.

I'm glad to hear some of you have tiny cats who have led long healthy lives. I was concerned maybe her lifespan would be shorter.
