1, 2, 3, 4...5? *Rubs eyes* 1, 2, 3, 4...5? What the?

I was checking out the new frog I got for my fish tank, as he was laying on top of a rock... I thought, OH NO, a fish bit the poor thing, darnit!! Took a closer look, OMG he has 2 arms growing out of the same side!!! He turns around & shows me his butt... OMG he also has a toe in the middle of his foot!!

So ya... apparently my frog is ummm... a freak :eek:

Your frog might have had a vitamin A deficiency or something wrong with the vitamin A derivative in its development. Its a common thing for wild frogs in some places that have a high use of a certain pesticide.

I thought these frogs were breed for stores, not wild frogs... If these are bred for pet stores, how did this hormone get into the water to effect my frog when it was developing?

Its kinda scary if I think about it now... Maybe this hormone is in the drinking water too!!

Could be, or maybe its just a deficiency. I don't know if dwarf frogs are all tank bred or if they collect eggs at all, since the eggs can be dried and hatched as needed.

Do you think with him being as he is, that he'll die really early?? Do you think hes suffering?? I don't want any suffering pets. I will put him down, if its a known fact that they are suffering (as in pain)... He seems ok.. Hes a fast swimmer & looks healthy besides the extra arm & the toe in the middle of his foot.

Now I feel bad for him after reading all that.. my poor froggy :(

He probably doesn't feel any pain. I wouldn't think being born with an extra limb would cause pain. And since he has all the functioning limbs as well, I don't see how he could be suffering or disadvantaged to a point of suffering.

Ok good. I was getting worried. I'm not into letting animals suffer, esp the ones that cannot be helped.

He was hiding last night, so I wasn't able to get a photo of his extra limbs or that toe hehe

it is likely in your drinking water. The can't remove the hormones from it.
