Awwwww! What beautiful babies! She must be a very proud mama! She's doing a great job with them! What's her name? How old is she? Give those sweet little ones a little kiss for me! :)
Her long name is in my signature, her short name is Penny, and she is 3 years old. She has been a great mama dog from the beginning. :D

Oh my gosh! I love Rotties! They are so cute! We have a lovely 200lb Rottie boy at the vets right now...he's only a boarder. I love him.

Do Rotties normally have large litters?
200 lbs? My goodness, the poor boy. That is a mastiff sized dog. Wow. It is amazing how big they can get them to go when they start selecting for that.
Catty, I would say Rotties often have larger litters. There were 10 puppies in this litter. The last puppy was was dead at birth and had been dead in utero for probably at least 24 hours. She was very small, only 5.3 ounces, and so probably would not have survived even had she been born alive.
There are large litters behind this bitch throughout her dam's pedigree, so I expected 8 to 10 puppies from her. :D
All the puppies are thriving and growing. I expect eyes to open in the next several days. I am not sure who is more anxious to see the eyes open, me, or all the anxious new owners who are waiting on their new puppy to come home in mid October.

Just a question after reading your site. Why do you dock ALL of your puppies' tails? :eek: Is that really necessary? :confused:

Yes, it is necessary. My puppies are docked anywhere from shortly after birth to 3 days of age. This litter was docked at 2 days of age, and at the same time had the rear dew claws removed which were present on about half of the litter.
As a member of the National Club, I will abide by our breed standard which states that the Rottweiler tail is docked short, close to the body leaving one or two vertebra.
I refuse to get into a public debate about whether anyone agrees with docking, nor will I try to convince anyone who feels it is cruel and barbaric otherwise. I WILL say that if one has not personally witnessed several litters being docked, then one should reserve comment. As long as docking is legal in this country, all my puppies will be docked. I have this information clearly on my website so that anyone who is interested in purchasing a puppy that does not have a docked tail can continue their search elsewhere.
If you want the real story on how docking makes puppies feel, look at the weight chart. Stressed upset puppies do not eat well and gain weight. This litter has not been supplemented AT ALL. You can see for yourself how they did from day 2 to day 3, they were docked early in the morning on day 2.
