35mm Camera?
This fall I'm taking a photography class at my college. In the description it states that that you "need 35mm camera with manual exposure control by third week of class."
What exactly do they want? Could I get away with buying something like the Canon S3IS that has manual settings? (I can hope can't I!). I've wanted that camera for so long I thought this would be the perfect "excuse" to buy it.
I don't really want to buy a film camera (that's what it means by 35mm right?)...since I'll never use it. *sigh* I probably should have looked into this more before I actually signed up for the class.

Yes, 35mm is a film camera.

Our HS photography class required film cameras.. only cause a big part of the course was learning how to develop, changing the contrast, etc.
You can usually get pretty cheap manual film cameras from Craigslist.. or even thrift stores. :)

These were the ones we used in my photography class.
