Mango, 8/21/01
I just saw "Mango," cat of the day for 8/21/01. It says she is a Siamese mix. From what I can see, she is a rare new breed called an Ojos Azules. Normally, the only cats that have blue eyes are either all white or have Siamese points. But Mango is a calico! She is beautiful. The Ojos Azules was a spontaneous mutation first seen in a stray cat in New Mexico. Anyone ever hear of it?

I've not heard of that breed, and I looked, and it isn't in my Cat book that lists more than 250 breeds ... must be newer than the book!
Thanks for pointing that out, I always thought it must mean there's Siamese in the family tree somewhere!

Ojos Azules
The International Cat Association (TICA) has a website with a very responsive email link. I have had questions answered by them in the past - maybe they will have some info on this question. I also thought the eyes came from an accident of breeding; but then, that's how many new "breeds" start, isn't it? If it isn't a new breed, it probably should be!! I'll post the answer from TICA if I get one.:)
