Show Coat ?

When I had my first Standard Poodle, I aquired her at about 5 mo. of age, and had to return her to the Breeder for unforeseen health issues. Into about the 3rd mo. of having her, I noticed the hair from her tail was wearing off due to her sitting down. My house is carpeted. So, now I have this 12 week old (Show) puppy, co-owned, and I must keep it's coat in "show condition" any tips would be most helpful. Thanks ;)
