Ferra the ferret has passed on...
My mothers ferret, Ferra, passed away this afternoon. She is seen in my signature.
We dont know what happened to her. She is only 3 1/2 years old. Last night she was acting listless. My mother called urgent care this morning and they dont take exotics. She spent 4 hours trying to find a vet willing to see her. By this time Ferra could not walk, stand, or anything. She was shaking all over. A doctor met my mother and took a blood sample, and gave her antibiotics. Mom brought her home, within 2 hours, she was aspirating. We could not save her. Her body was taken in for a necropsy. It is possible she had diabetes and kidney failure, but no signs. The last two weeks she was drinking alot of water, but we thought it was because I bought her a brand new water bottle, and she just liked it. No other signs/symptoms. Does anyone know what this could be? We have 2 other ferrets, and are scared that it could be passed to them if it was contagious. The vet said when he opened her up, he saw bloody/swollen lymph nodes on her intestines. The rest is being sent to the lab for analysis. That takes 10-14 business says. What if it spreads?
RIP little Ferra. You were a prissy, sweet, and comical ferret. The most spoiled ferret I have ever met. Loved by so many, please romp and play at the Bridge and wait for us to come get you. :( :( :(
Here are a few pictures from this past Christmas.
