If you had to get...

If you had to get another dog, what breed would it be, where would it come from, girl or boy ,what would it's name be, and how old would it be? I would get a two year old Siberian husky from the SPCA, it would be a girl, and her name would be either Eska (like Eskim) ,or Stowe( a little town in Vermont that I love) .

I would get a German import GSD pup and I think I would lean towards a male. I would probablly name him Bishop, because both my husband and I love that name. We met a champion show and obedience rottie by that name and it sounded so good. Some other male names I like alot are: Lex and Cecil. If I got a female I might name her Morgan, but I also really like the name Ellie.

I would either rescue another greyhound, and it would come with a name. I would probably go with a younger one again, because of the place we are in life. I might get another male, because our Buddy is so *perfect*!
Of course, I'd also really want to rescue that Irish Wolfhound I keep talking about, and name it something trite and predictable like Murphy or O'Malley or Killarney!

I'd want to get a rescue Aussie, female probably, and in young adulthood. We've fallen in love with Aussies! The name would be agonized over for weeks until we found just the right one...

I still feel guilty about having gotten Eli from a fancy-dancy breeder instead of from a rescue or a shelter, but we had our reasons. Kobie is a shelter-adopted female who's NOT good with other dogs, so we kept hearing advice to get a very young male puppy--maybe she'd feel maternal towards it and not fight constantly. Since finding male Aussie pups in rescue or shelters was impossible during last summer (and we sure tried!), we opted for the breeder. True, we got a wonderful boy who's just what we wanted--frisbee dog extraordinaire, loving and smart and hilarious--but it bothers me that some other Aussie went unadopted or unrescued because of us.

At least we tried to make it as easy as we could on Kobie, and she's adjusted to Eli pretty well. Gotta keep each furkid happy! :)

I would get either a GSD, great dane, papillon, yorkie, or another poodle from the shelter. Male or female, doesn't matter to me. I have a whole list of names ready for when I get the next dog or cat. My favorites are the female names. I've not yet been able to plan getting a dog though so my next will probably be none of the above, but I will love it to death like I love my others :)

My next one will be a rescued Golden Retriever or Labrador Retriever, male or female. It wouldn't matter to me!

You shouldn't feel quilty if you tried your best. Just think if you hadn't gotten your Aussie from a reputable breeder a wonderful dog may of gone to a not so wonderful home and may of ended up in the rescue anyway. You never know... and as it turns out you got a dog you really love. God works in mysterious ways so don't feel guilty. :)

As a reputable breeder, I have a contract on all my puppies that states if they have to give the dog away it can only come back to us so we can have some control over any dog we bring into the world not going to a shelter. We then look for homes for the dog all over again. We are also involved in Golden Retriever Rescue. I believe if you are going to bring them into the world, you better be ready to rescue them too!

So by now I guess you can all figure out that I would like more Goldens. The question is how many. The more the merrier. :) Male or Female doesn't matter, just having them is enough. :) They would all come from lines that had clearences on hips, eyes, heart, elbows. Since these problems are genetic, we try to breed to prevent them. My favorite saying is "MY BEST FRIENDS ARE PURE GOLD". :D :D

This is a toughy, I would either get another male Australian shepherd (either blue merle or red tri) and call him Rodeo, I always loved that name, but dad didn't want to name Bandit that, or I would get a white Bull terrier and call him (I would get a male) Sharky, a white bull terrier just looks like a Sharky!

I would love to have a 2-Basset family! I would get another one in a heartbeat if only my mom would give me the okay! It would be great to get a puppy, but I have recently discovered a Basset Hound rescue near me and I really do want to rescue. When you guys talk about rescuing, you make me want to rescue so bad! I think I'd get another girl; being a girl myself, I think I just bond to them better.

Jessica- about 2 years ago one of my best friends parents rescued an Irish Wolfhound female named Murphy, from Sylvania OH!!!
The people gave her away for free, cuz they were moving and she was already like 6 years old. She was all matted and stunk, nails overgrown so much she could barely walk, and when they took her out to the bathroom they would just keep her on the leash right out the back door. Her parents had 2 great pyrnees, a scottie and the irish wolfhound all at the same time!!! They spent more on dog food then people food!!!
