I took some photos of a tree in the Audubon Zoo while we were in New Orleans. They are gorgeous, but I never asked what kind they were. I saw a couple more throughout New Orleans (once in the Garden District and once in the French Quarter). Any ideas?

I do not know, but interested to find out what it is. We have one too in our rock garden... There is a tulip tree.... I want to know too..
One also have one in our garden. I will have to ask Guido the name when he gets home cause I have no clue.
Isn't it a magnolia tree? It looks a lot like one.
No idea here, but it's beautiful. Does it have a pleasant fragrance?

Why not ask them?
They have on line questions and also a mailing address if you prefer to print and mail them. If you mail and want an anser, I've found putting in a stamped self addressed envelope assures a reply!

It will help if you tell them the month that you were there and took these photos.
It could be a tulip magnolia tree, they are much shorter than the magnolia trees, and teh flowers come in many colors. Google tulip magnolia and take a look. I just copied 2 links for an example.

I think they are called "saucer" magnolias.
They look like what we have in our yard. I planted them and they are called Jane Magnolias. They are on the side of the house and bloom in spring. We often have people stop to take pictures of them.
We also have one called a Royal Star Magnolia. The blooms are smaller and white and have lots of petals.
