how long do kittens nurse for?

It's soo cute Jake still tries to nurse on Ashley and Runner. He's even tried to find my tummy.

Usually Kittens only nurse for about eight or nine weeks, and the Mother pushes them away, but in a safe place they might try for some extra food.

I had a kitten once upon a time that would nurse your fingers when he was sleepy, even as he got older. I guess its a comfort thing, like thumb sucking.
