Dumb question- but..

I was wondering. I am a dog person but had several cats over my life. My two favorites were two maine coons..
Question- you know how we test for genetic problems in breeding of dogs, - do any cat breeds test for genetic problems??

Not sure about Maine Coons. I do know that Persians can have respiratory problems due to the structure of their noses.

Try googling Maine Coon and see what you can come up with.

This isn't exactly genetic, but pure white cats tend to have more deafness or hearing loss than other cats. They also tend to get skin cancer more easily, even from sitting in windows inside.

I love Maine Coons also. They are awesome cats!!!
