De-worming for cats

Hi to u all!
I really love pets and I’ve being interested in animal all my life !
I have 2 dogs : T-bone & Rex and a cat for the last 2 years who’s name is Robert. lately Robert has been having worms, (is it possible that he got it from the neighbor’s dog or other dogs and cats???)
I want to the vet and he gave me some de-worming pills for him. I tried to crumble the tablet into his food but he notice it right away.
I tried wrapping it with some sausage but he refuse to swallow it .
I even tried using force but Robert kept scratching and twirling!!!
what can I do ??

Hi,
I just had a similar issue with my cat. I had to give her steroids because she had a serious allergy problem. I had to give her the pills 3 times day. In order to give her the pills, I would have to wrap her in a towel, making sure that her hands and feet are in the towel tight.... I would wrap her the way you would swaddle a newborn baby. Then, I would have someone else hold her and I would put my forefinger and thumb on her jaw and squeeze so her mouth would open. I would toss the pill in and close her mouth and blow on her face. I would also massage her throat (the blowing and massaging makes them swallow).

It wasn't all that easy, but it worked.

I'm guessing the 'worming pills' are for tapeworms?

The towel trick DianeSnizzy suggested is a good one, def. worth a try!

Tasties Worm-Out

You've been on this board with another sign on name haven't you? If you're who I think you are, after 3 posts with this same link you were suddenly vaporized; your sign on name AND your posts. I'm thinking that is correct because of the same kind of typos used in the posts. Last time it was "a place you can be ADVICED" and now it's "all KINGS of medicines"

If you are not this same person I appologize to you. However I will still re-post the same thing I did before about that link.....

I checked out that link about the wormer, I have a few problems with it...

1) According to it's own website 'A new revolutionary wormer' however under the ingredients area it says 'a known deworming medicine'. This seems contradictory to me, not to mention the fact it does not list this supposed 'known deworming medication' by name.

2) For both the dewormer and the food it only states it was made by 'top manufacturers who meet the highest standards'. No where does it list the actual companies involved. I'd be skeptical of a product hiding this information if they are such 'top manufacturers'. Also who's highest standards? What authorities approved this? Who is the veterinarian who helped formulate this stuff and is he still practicing? Any reliable company should be willing to put this information up front to back their 'claims'.

3) According to their own website 'The ingredients are specified on the package'. So in otherwords they want your money before you get to find out exactly what you are paying for.

4) I'd be leary of feeding any pet a food with such limited information as this one gives.

5) It's never a good idea to just randomly medicate your pet without having had a diagnosis first by a licensed vet! Giving pets medications for possibly the wrong illness can possibly cause further complications with what is really going on, AND make your vets job harder by having to deal with any medication you've used (that may/may not work) that may react with what your vet would like to use that will work.

6) The website states it gets 'all kinda of worms', however does not list them by name the ones it 'claims' to 'get'. Some worms/parasites can ONLY be found by a fecal examination under a microscope.

Honestly not only would I not feed this to any of my pets, but I would never recommend it to anyone in good concious either given the limited information or deliberate hiding of information on the site.

Wormer is the solution

To solve this problem that you describes you should use the wormer of www.cosmic1.net . This is a pet health site that have found a patent how to make the dog/cat eat the anti-worm medicine.

I'd still like to know who this is that keeps getting new sign on names and only posting about that site (see my response above). I think it's some foriegn person that works for the foriegn company selling snake oil myself. But of course that's simply my opinion.

I'm sure Paul can query the IP address to verify this.

On stuffonmycat.com the comment section is vulnerable to spammers and the webmaster has a way of blocking certain IP addresses.

I'm kinda wondering if that's the case here. Seems this link always shows up by a newbie, always with similar misspellings or outright wrong but similar words, and ONLY on posts with 'wormer' in the subject line. And have you actually checked out that link, at least about this 'miracle wormer food' anyways? No companies names, ingredients, or authoritive information available, and the only outside link I found looked like some laboratory webpage but it was all written in a foriegn language I couldn't read.

If someone could actually look into this that would be great, although it could be from real people that work for the company posting these I dunno.

You can purchase a pill popping device from your vet, they cost around 7 dollars here in NZ, i have never tried them yet, but have seen them in use and they seem great, i probably will invest in one soon,

My vet always recommends i deworm my four cats every three months with Drontal, which i do, so good luck.

I believe you, seems awful fishy to me too. I've also noticed that sometimes there is yet other names posting the link to that site, again newbies with only a couple posts, mostly about that site. Seems to me the product must really be bad or the company is really hard up for sales that their employees have to go all over pet message boards promoting their product huh? :rolleyes:
