Abigail, the writer was right, you do have wonderful eyes who say it all! I bet your owner is very happy to have you as her company, and it is very kind of her to make sure you will get a good home even after she cannot take care of you herself. I too hope that won't be for many more years though!

I had to look twice at the picture of Abigail this morning!! My Mimi could be her mama (or grandmama)! What a beautiful girl and what a great companion for your mom!! If she's half as sweet as my girl is, then I can certainly understand all that love! :)

Oh, sweet Abigail. It surely sounds like you deserve to be COTD as you bring such joy to so many. They are lined up just waiting to take care of you!!! What a wonderful story that you end up in a loving, caring home, and you bring such joy to your new owner. Sounds like a win win situation to me. :)

It is difficult for me to understand how Abigal could ever have been an unwanted cat - and frustrating, too. Every now and then, I stop by the local animal shelter (where the good black cat nestled down to my left came from) and wander into the cat room. There are no unwanted cats in there, because I want to bring every single one of them home with me. But I can't manage it, and so I leave, knowing that eventually a purple tag will appear on the cage doors of some of those cats - and that is not a good thing.

One day, perhaps, I will become rich. Then I will buy me at least 15 acres of good Alaska woodland, fence off one acre of it, put in the appropriate stuctures, get the license, then begin making regular trips to the animal shelter where I will seek out the cats with the purple tags and bring them back to a new home. But even that would only dent the problem.

I am glad that Abigail has her new home, along with a waiting list of those that want her should it come to that. Yet, these are the days when more and more people are living past 100, often in good health, so who knows - she could have many years left yet in her knew home.

I hope so.

when you think about the thousands of furbabies that die daily just because people are too selfish to neuter their pets or be responsible owners. At least they die humanely, instead of starving to death in the countryside or being beaten to death inside of an inner-city apartment. It's soul crushing when you think about it too much, but when you see a face like Abigail's it really gives you hope. To Abigail, the face of hope to thousands of "unwanted" pets! May your cause be spread to all people and may we all think of the many not so furry babies who also have to die out of selfishness.
