RIP Our Big Girl Greta :-(

Greta our rottie mix has been having many problems over the last year. UTI and hip displasia was the worst of it. As a puppy Greta had one hip operated on, and although the vet wanted to do both at once, it would have been physically impossible for me to manuever her in and out of the yard, so we had the worst one done. Greta enjoyed nine more years of romping before her 'good hip' went on her. She was on the strongest pain relief available for dogs. Two days ago (of course after vets had closed) Greta was having a tough time breathing, but did manage to get up to go outside with the rest of the gang. Yesterday morning I knew her time had come, and I helped her into the car for her final trip to the vets. A few minutes after, she died in my backseat. :( She was almost 11 years old. My kitten caretaker is now pain free and romping through the woods over the Rainbow Bridge. Good bye sweet girl, we'll miss you. :(

Greta's earthly body is now pain free and she is agile again. No longer will you be able to reach out and touch her soft fur, but she is not gone. Her soul is intertwined with yours and will live in your heart until you are together again. Look at the clouds and see her face smiling down at you. Listen to the wind and hear her happy barks............

I'm sure that she has already found your other angel family members and is busy mothering all the little ones who have crossed over. Do not be surprised if she isn't already busy choosing another for you to love and to help you with mothering all the little ones you save.

Thank you everybuddy. The 'dogstacle' course has sure changed around here. :( Used to be the two big ones would lay in the most inconvenient places and when I'd step over them they'd stand up and throw me off balance! :eek: Greta (and I always type her name Great..she was great) will be missed terribly around here. I'll miss her doe-brown eyes, and her fondness for chest scritchies, and the silly way she'd roll on her back for belly rubs. :(

I so sorry, Jan, for the loss of your Greta. I know you will miss her a lot. Sounds like it was time for her to go and that she had led a very useful and long happy life with you.
