mounting issue
I have a 9-month-old male and female chihuahua mixed of some sorts. They were both neutered when they were about 4 mo old, and are the best of friends. Lately I noticed that my female dog has displayed some very weird behavior, she'd mount the male dog from behind and acts as if they're mating.
What's happening? If I see her doing this and say "No", then she'd stop immediately.

Ya know, before I went to have Bower neutered I asked what habits he may develop afterwards. The vet didn't really say much so I asked people I knew that had neutered their dogs. One told me that he will start mounting anything, male or female. It hasn't happened yet, I am not even sure if it's true but I have never seen a female mount a male. Then again the only female I ever had was one we fostered for about a year but they never had her fixed so I am not too sure.

Mounting is more of a dominance thing. She's just telling him she's the boss. If it bothers you, tell her no. Maybe distract her with a toy, treat or call her to you.
Occasionally one of mine will try it and I stop it without making a big deal of it.

My alpha female Niki mounts everyone. It is a dominance thing.
Buddy mounts Bozy and Cody.
Cody mounts Buddy.
Bozy doesn't mount even though he's second in command.
It's all very confusing at times.
