I've been wondering how the "correct" way to pronounce this was, because I have heard it different several times. Is Carribean pronounced,
A. Care-a-bee-an
or
B. Ka-rib-e-an
??

I think both are correct. I use both but in different situations. Like when refering to Pirates of the Caribbean, I say Care-a-bee-an. But talking about a caribbean cruise or something, i say the second one, Ka-rib-e-an. Hope that made sense!
Good ol' websters dictionary says it can be pronounced either way. In WI you hear both, but care-a-bee-an most often.
There is that good old pirate musical (isn't it The Pirate?) with I think Judy Garland where they even have a song that ends like "in the Care ib Bee.. or the Ca RIB ian sea"
