No don't use a shock collar. You don't need to do anything to cause your dog pain or to zap it to train it. It's rediculous. Work on the sit and stay commands. Use treats and praise as rewards. You can leash him and help him learn to sit quietly by the open door and then graduate to doing it leash off after practice. Never let him get in front of you as you answer or open the door. Train him that he has to sit back from it as you open it and apporach it only if you tell him it's okay to. It takes time and patience by my dogs learned it and they can be high energy too. Also a daily walk and good exercise, as well as mental stimulation, will help burn off the excess energy, and make him better able to focus on training.
