We rescued a 8 week kitten. My two year old adores him and he adores her. They cuddle on the couch and watch cartoons and he even goes with her when she does potty in her new potty chair. They are the best of buds. Yesterday,we took him to his first vet appointment. First they tell me they want to do the feline lukemia test. They don't want me to "waste" money on vaccines etc if he is ill...... They do the test and come back with the great news! He is negative! We then go ahead and give him all the vaccines and de worm him. When I am out in the waiting room getting ready to pay the nurse calls me and tells me that I need to come back in the room and speak with the doctor. He tells me they read the test wrong and Oliver tested for a faint positive. They are sending his test to a blood lab and I am awaiting results. My question is: Why was he so sure that I should euthanize him if he is positive? Can't he live for years?
They just called and his blood test came back negative! Hooray! They said we had 1-5 percent chance of this happening! IT did!
Thats so wonderful to hear!!!!! Yay! he is alive! yay!
I wish you the best. How's he doing?

Vets are so quick to put animals down. Congratulations on the negative result. My cat Holly was a dumped cat until my brother picked her up off the streets. I took her in & look at her now.
