This is his story so far.........Moving On (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?t=99277&page=1)
Uhhhh oooooooooo, I think I am in love. This guy is a sweetheart. I know he is happy to be in a home because he has been in boarding since Jan 24 and I don't know how long in animal control. He was a stray, but he sure looks like he had been well taken care of. He acts perfectly in our home, like he's been here forever!! He knows commands and NO works beautifully.
He is about 4-5 years old. He is a long stock coat blanket back GSD and of normal size (I have always been owned by the large-boned 100+ lb GSDs). He does weigh 80 lbs, but they suggest that he lose a few lbs so he may not get Hip Dysplasia. He is also quite dark in the face than I am used to. He is gorgeous.

Hmmm, how determined are you to "foster," not adopt him? He sounds perfect! Give him a kiss for me, will you?

I'm so glad that Thor found you to foster him. He is strikingly beautiful. :)
So far, what is his personality like? Or is to soon to tell? Give him a hug
from me. :D

He really is a sweetheart. He is friendly, but not overly friendly. He is calm until he goes into play mode :D . I can't wait til the weather gets warmer (the wind chill is below zero here) so we can go for longer walks and have more backyard playtime.

Sounds like the weather here. We are having the coldest
temperatures of the winter now. My fingers get numb even with gloves.
Can't wait for some warmer temps. :)

Sue, it sounds like Thor knows a good thing when he sees it making you fall in love with him already. I am so happy for him and you to find each other. I'm sure he was guided into your home by Killian and Shiloh. :D
Do you think he has found his forever home or is it still too early to tell?

Seems like Thor is intent on making a good impression on his foster family. What a sweetheart. He's going to make this fostering business a piece of cake. I too love his black face.
Please keep us up on every detail of his adjustment.

Thanks, all. Thor is gorgeous and a complete sweetheart. Right now he is at the vet being sedated and having his ears cleaned. I am beginning to wonder if he is somewhat deaf or he has an ear infection. Pray that all comes out well for him!

Hmmm what was it I was saying about a failed foster;)
He sounds like the perfect gentleman!
Well wishes for the vet visit today. And hey, more pictures of that handsome guy when you get the chance!!!

Thanks for asking. Thor has an infection in both ears. They are waiting for the lab report (not in til MONDAY!!) before they prescribe something. Not acceptable. We will be talking to a different vet on Friday to get meds for him. Ahhh, we might have to change his name to Killer, per the vet visit. Long story.
Still trying to find a name that fits him.

Well, he has two types of infection in each ear!! I have to go pick up 3 types of meds and have to clean his ears every third day. That will be a challenge (remember his name at the vets...Killer).

Miss Hoppy knows that vets are evil and deserve to be bitten, so she says to tell Thor "Go for it!" Sigh. Don't encourage him, I say!
Good luck, and I am sure he will be better behaved when his ears don't hurt! I get cranky when I've had an ear infection, too.

Nikka offers her sympathy Thor....don't believe the humans just want to give you treats....there's always a catch..get your ears cleaned you get a treat.....not worth it unless we're talking steak!!!

Just thought I'd see what the vet had to say about Thor's ears, doesn't sound good but I'm sure after all the meds (good luck on that!) he'll be feeling much better:D

Hope the meds work for Killer... Opps, I mean Thor! LOL I'm sure he will be better letting you take care of him, Sue. Please keep us posted. Also, are you sure you want to rename him? That's usually the first step in keeping them! :D

Hope Thor's ears are doing better. How are things going in general?

Thanks for asking! Thor is feeling better with all the meds he is taking. He can hear sometimes, but still does not bark. He lets me touch his ears, but he is not happy about it. It is very hard to get the meds in his ears because he shakes his head so much. I have to tempt him with cheese to get at least a little med in his ears  !

Oh, Sue, what a beautiful boy. Sorry to hear about his ear infections, glad you are able to put the meds in though, even if it means bribing (I have to do that with Bob)
{{hugs} to you both.

How is Thor doing now, Sue? I keep thinking of the two of you! :)
Sue how is Thor these days? Bella has had her share of ear infections in the past. It got so bad that when she would see me coming with the medicine she would either run away or turn her head pretending not to see me (or maybe hoping when she turned her head back I would have disappeared. ) The vet finally did a deep flushing of her ears under anesthesia which gave her immediate relief, and that was a year and a half ago and her ears are still fine. :)
He sure is a handsome boy. My daughter's neighbor has a GSD who is very dark just like Thor and she too is a sweetheart. Is this still a foster situation or has it gone up a notch at this point? :p

I was just thinking of you two last night. How's it going?
Sudilar

Thor returned to the vet on Tuesday to have the deep ear cleaning done. He is on two more weeks of medication. He is still rubbing and shaking his head. I feel so bad for him. Luckily he lets me rub his ears and put the medicine in. He wasn't so cooperative for the first vet. The second vet on Tuesday had no problem with him. :D
He is still a sweetheart. He does have a bark, but hardly ever uses it. He loves walks and car rides. I have some new pictures, but I haven't downloaded them yet. I will soon. You will see how really gorgeous he is!!
Thanks so much for asking!!!
