Thanks for your note about Gwendy being Dog of the Day! I check the site every day, so was aware of her recent honor! She's quite pleased with herself, knowing she made it on Dog of the Day when her dachshunds brothers & sisters (Ben, Gunther, Sassie & Schatzie) have not yet been so honored! LOL!
I am known as "Google"... the Audrey in my email addy is in memory of my first guide dog, a lovely yellow lab. She and I trained together in '85, and she sadly passed away in '94.
Her successor Merlin, a wonderful black lab, walked with me as my guide from '91-98, when
he sadly developed cancer of the throat and was forced to retire. He passed away only a
short few weeks after his diagnosis.
Gwendy is Merlin's successor, and a wonderful guide and companion. She brings great joy into my life, and seems to take pride in her role as one of the "elite"... a guide dog for the blind. I'm so honored that she has been chosen as "Dog of the Day", and I printed out the page to put in her keepsake album.
Thanks again, and I'll try and visit Pet Talk more often... my work schedule does keep me quite busy, and I don't get near as much time to spend cruising the net as I'd like! LOL!

Thank you Cinder and Phred. Google, please forgive me! I loved reading about your beloved line of guide labs. A treasure, each and every one I'm sure! Hearing from you, and about Gwendy, every now and again would be wonderful. But regardless, please know that you will always have a loving "dog family" here and Gwendy will forever be remembered as our friend and very special Dog of the Day!

Karen, I kind of had an advantage because I met Karen Ann while surfing the dog albums at PhotoPoint, even before I started with Pet Talk. She had some marvelous albums there about her guide dogs and pet dogs and her life in general. When Benniegoogle popped up at Pet Talk, I knew who she was immediately, and it didn't take me long to figure out that Gwendy was hers.

Oh, my dear wonderful Pet Talk friends! Thank you all for your sincere thoughts and caring words! I so appreciate all of you and the love that comes across in your posts. Thanks especially to Cinder, Smokes & Phred, for alerting me of the chatter going on here regarding Gwendy's honor as DOTD!! I apologize for not getting here sooner... I have a good excuse for once! LOL! Darndest weirdest things happenin' around these parts lately! We had a tornado touch down in a town just about 30 miles north of where I live on Thursday. Mind you, upstate NY has seen nothing remotely resembling a tornado for as long as I can recall, and I'm gettin' up there now (the big FOUR OH in October... UGH!). We lost power for a day, and the phones are still screwy. So, I wasn't able to get online over the weekend, until late Sunday evening. Naturally, I'd already deleted Phred's message... and ya know how that goes, out of sight, out of mind! LOL! I just went in to check out DOTD (and that Hannah, btw... what a girl, eh?), and decided to scoot in and see what you all were talking about since I was here ages ago! I'm so glad I came in, and I promise to stop by much more frequently. I have a new addition to my family... Gunther, an 8 mth old red dapple doxie boy came to live with me, Gwen and the other 3 doxies, Bennie, Sassie & Schatzie last week. He's an absolute sweet pea, and fits right in with my silly gang. Oh, btw, for those of you who noted Gwendy's "serious" look... don't be so easily charmed, folks! She is the biggest goofiest girl I've ever met! LOL! She is a wonderful devoted guide, and her mischievious and enthusiastic personality only make her more special in my heart. I submitted her "serious" pic to show the well-trained guide dog side of her. Anyone who has visited our websites know that's only a small part of what makes her wonderful! Okay, enough babbling... I must get back to my enormous load of email that has accumulated during the phone outage. Thanks to all, again, and as Arnold said. "I'll be back"!! :D
