Does anyone here have therapy dogs?

Nova has been trained well enough to be certified for quite a while ... it's just a matter of her turning one! Her birthday is on the 26th and I'm getting anxious. I can't wait to start doing visits with her! :D

Luka has problems with certain crowds and some men, and I don't know if she'd make a good therapy dog until she overcomes this. Other than that she is trained well enough and I hope she'll be able to do visits one day!

I'd love for Mandy to do it but if she even so much as sets one paw outside the front door her anxiety goes into full speed. She calms down after a while but any new place, any stop light, etc. makes her go nuts :(

And all three of my girls are going for their CGC titles in 3 1/2 weeks. I've heard that mixed breeds and unregistered purebreds can get this certification, anyone know if that's correct or incorrect? Luka is registered with the AKC but I don't know her name since I got her from the humane society. The original owners are supposed to send over the papers if they ever find them but somehow I doubt they're even looking. And Mandy of course is not registered :p

Yes, any dog can get their CGC certificate, purebred or not! :D
That is so great, I wish yous the best of luck! :D That is such a rewarding job for all involved. I hope to do it with Kaige when he gets older (probably after we are done competing in sports).

Any dog can get it's CGC and any dog can be a therapy dog.

I was going to get into it with Mickey, but you have to be over 18 here.. psh. :(

I'm waiting for someone to get back to me about Zeke getting tested. I've waited a month so far. I wonder if she'll get back to me. Zeke would be perfect though. He loves attention, and would just sit for hours being petted. He has a problem jumping up on people...but I've only seen him do it at flyball where everyone is crazy and exciting...some how I can't see an old age home/hospital being that crazy and exciting ;)

Maybe you should call again or get tested somewhere else? I'd be so frustrated after that long :p
