You'll be fine! You've got your dad and Ki, what else could you ask for? (Ok, Simba and Nala would be nice, but you know what I mean).

Guess what? They sent me another pink pass card. I do have two

They are very stingy with their dog passes so it must have been a mistake. (Unless you sent more than $10). They are so afraid that someone might loan their permit or tell someone the combination for the lock on the gate that they would never intentionally give you two. I had one go through the wash last year - the sealing on the laminate wasn't tight and it ended up a pulpy mass. Fortunately it was near the end of the season and I didn't need it again.
With five dogs, I pay for two and get two so that Carl can have three with his permit in the park and I can have two.
Snoopy had another seizure last night so I think we will only be bringing Jack and Taggert. He is getting more and more nervous after each seizure and I think the large number of dogs might be too much for him. Poor Snoops!

[QUOTE=lizbud]Nope, just sent $10.00. I can return it when I get there.[QUOTE]
I wouldn't worry about returning it. They aren't numbered or anything. You will just have an extra if you lose yours or something. It's really not a big deal - it's just sometimes THEY make it a big deal about having yours with you, not giving out the combination etc. Kind of like making a mountain out of a molehill. Sometimes the people at the park district office are a little hard to get along with. Other times they are okay.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm wondering how many bags of ships I'm going to need to bring.
I have about 100 doggie treats, but it seems as if more & more dogs are coming everyday now. Hmmm, wonders if I'll be able to bring more. :D

I think the human count was somewhere between 30 and 40. But remember that everyone's bringing something, so you don't need to bring enough for absolutely everyone, or we'll have lots of leftovers.
Small, humble request - can folks who are making stuff to bring just bring - or tape to the container - an ingredient list? I have oddball food allergies (animal and vegetable and fruit and other), so need ingredient lists before I can eat anything.

Take a Chill Pill, Folks!! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif
No one Bringer of Food needs to feel obligated to have a serving of their Stuff
for EVERYone in attendance ...
If we get 20 Dishes or items brought in - it's a bit unrealistic to think that
EVERYONE is going to "sample" all 20 Dishes! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/eek.gif
I've *tried* - ya just can't EAT that much - even if you Stay for Dinner!
If each Cook brings enough Stuff to serve 6-10 people - we should have enough food
for a week! (We always seem to have a LOT more than we can possibly eat!)
And a "few" chips go a long way ... I hate to fill up on Chips - no matter HOW tastey -
and let home-made stuff go un-sampled due to a lack of "room"!
Things not mentioned:
Lasagna or Spaghetti dishes - good hot or cold - and we have elecrtical outlets.
Tossed Salads
Cheese Plate
Remember - Keep it SIMPLE - it's a PICNIC - not a formal dinner!!
Same advice for the Dawggie Treats - everyone who comes brings a Box, Bag, or Pouch
to share with da Mutts ... 40 or 50 Mutts can only consume so many Treats!
YOU don't need to try to feed each Mutt a complete meal!
My guess is we'll see 30 - 40 2-Leggers;
and have 40- 50 Mutts pass through!

There's a water pump right there in the dog park itself, so you needn't pack water, just a dish to put it in!

No dishes really needed, either. There's small, medium, and large waterbowls there - they were there all 3-4 times we went to the park last week. Dad, Ki, and I drove to Findlay from our campground almost every day.
Is there absolutely something easy that needs to be brought - like a necessity?? Can't do much since we're traveling but if something needs to be picked up let me know. A few of you have our cell number if needed.

Although you may not need dishes at the dog park it is always a wise idea to bring them just in case you need them while traveling. Even for the shortest distance, you never know if your car will break down or the like.

Looks like everything is falling into place for us to attend! I didn't want to say anything before because there were just too many variables affecting the final outcome, but as of right now, unless the motorhome breaks down, we'll be there! Unfortunately P & CJ won't be in attendance though. :(
Like Kay, we're kind of on the fly with all this, so we can bring something that's quick and easy to make if anyone can think of something. Will have to make a stop for doggie biscuits.....hhhmmm....this made me wonder...with so many doggie biscuits being handed out, do any of the doggies go home with upset tummies....kind of like a kid at a carnival? :D
Anyway, looks like there'll be a lot of people we haven't met in attendance, so we're looking forward to meeting all the newbies, and seeing all the familiar faces again! :D

I can't believe I thought this was on Monday.
I have to work until 7:30.
Nope - SUNDAY is the Day!
That's why we said "SUNDAY" in the title ... oh well!
And 7:30 PM isn't really "Tooooo" late - there will be a few of us still there.
If we KNOW you're going to drop by - we might even leave the CharKoal "on"! :p
Let us know - and you might ask for an "early out".

Well, we live in Findlay and frequent the dog park quite often but have never heard of this annual event! As I was searching through Google for some Memorial weekend events to check out around Findlay, this came up and what a surprise. We already have our weekend stop at the dog park on Sundays after lunch, so I can only imagine Josie's (our Bichon) reaction to coming around the corner this weekend and seeing tons of other four-leggers galavanting around after what she thought would just be another routine day with her and another dog or two in the park, having it all to themselves!
We also are a Small Paws Rescue foster and we will have a new rescue Bichon with us, Fluffy, that we have had for two weeks now and she has come out of her shell and is getting ready for a forever home, so hopefully she likes to see the other doggies and enjoy the sunshine, too. It will be her first trip to the famed dog park!
I guess we may be seeing some of you there and the weather looks to be Sunny with a high of 86, so we hope your event will be a success!

It didn't and doesn't effect many folks - but having the New Bridge open to traffic
solves a problem - MapQuest can't get anybody http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/eek.gif LOST now!
The Lil Rickity Bridge that carried Township Highway 207 over the Blanchard River
down near the south-eastern corner of the Findlay Reservoir has been closed
for several years - and I doubt many folks even remember using it!
I was even told the Bridge would never be replaced ... so we learned the new route.
The Dawgs got upset a few times - but even they are tuned into the New Route
around the west side of the Reservoir. I don't get *Howled At* for going
the wrong way anymore!
But MapQuest didn't wanna hear it! If they brought you in from the east, south-east,
or the south, using US Route 23 and OH-15 ... you were gonna be "sent" across
that closed Bridge - with NO "Detour" Signs to help guide you throught the back roads!
So all the MapQuesters that I've told to use "MY" approach to the Dog Park -
over OH-37 and coming up the west sode of the Reservoir -
you now have a choice - do it MY Way or the MapQuest way -
you'll get there either way!
Drive Safely- whichever way you come! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif

Hey everyone. My heart is breaking as I type this, but I don't think we won't be able to make it this year. :(
My mom was supposed to meet me for lunch at work take Hugito with her so my co-workers could see him. She was supposed to drop me off in the morning, come home, pick up the baby and head back to my work. So, on her way back from dropping me off, she got in an accident. :(
Lots of blessings in disguise here. First and foremost, she wasn't hurt and neither was Maggy or Emma. Second, she didn't have Hugito with her and lastly, the damage isn't terrible. Either way, I can't see us going on a 5 hour road trip with my car in this condition. I'm really disappointed and very sorry. I was so looking forward to going.
There's still a very small chance that we'll rent a car to go, but that chance is slim to none.
I'm really sorry.

Deb I am so sorry to hear of your mom's accident! Very glad noone was hurt tho!
Welcome Josers! My golden Keegan and I will be there later in the afternoon. I hope the park isn't flooded with the storms that we had in the area today! I was in Findlay this afternoon! - woooow!
While at Pet Supplies Plus today I spied 2 huskies in the big tubs in the self dog wash! yupper Star and Sherman were getting prettified! I spoke to Pat but she had her hands too full of Sherman trying to escape to I think realize who I was! :p Then I saw the pretty Star in the car (hey I rhymed) while I was leaving! :) I want to try that sometime - not sure how Keegan's hips will handle it tho :(
Gina - I would assume that you could contact Sue or Karen to let them know if you are coming. I most certainly would understand your decision to stay home! I wouldn't be able to go anywhere if my cats were missing! I hope you got your window fixed.

Ouch, Paul! I hope you're feeling better soon.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers, well wishes and suggestions. I was hoping to still go as we were planning on renting a car anyway because 2 doggies + 3 hoomins + baby (+baby stuff)=need lots of room. My insurance does cover rental reimbursement, but the whole process of gathering estimates, the investigation, etc. they aren't getting me another car until sometime next week. Like I said, I was still trying to rent one, but now, having to pay my deductible, the hotel, gas and rental car, it a little out of the question.
I really tried, I did. Maybe some other time. Please have fun and take lots of pictures for us. I'll be thinking about you!

Karen, SO sorry to hear about Paul. He must be in a lot of pain and I can certainly see why the trip was ruled out. I know it's a long drive for you, and who wants to drive when they're in pain?
Debby, SO sorry to hear about your mother's accident. Glad it wasn't anything too serious, but sorry to hear we're not going to be able to finally meet up. Appears we might actually have to meet sometime in Chicago instead of 6 hours away in Ohio. ;)
And to everyone else, SO sorry things didn't work out. that's 13 hours of driving - without figuring in any stops.
You're younger than I am - but that's more driving in one day than you should be doing!
And do you have any idea How to FIND Findlay, OH??
I'd certainly be looking for someone to Ride Along - other than the Pup!

The Pet Talk gathering was really great. :D I've never seen so many
gorgeous dogs of all description & the nicest group of people ever. :D
My post will be short & sweet because I forgot my camera. :( Oh well,
I'll have to wait to see everyone elses.
p.s. You know it's one thing to see all the PT pupsters in pictures, but
It's even better seeing them all run around the park together. :)
Oh Liz I just came on now to check for any updates and I am so disappointed that you forgot your camera. I will just have to practice patience. :) By the way, does anyone know if Mugsy still attends these get-togethers. I always enjoyed seeing which pupster was chosen to go with her. Anyone hear from her lately?

I haven't heard from her lately, she had gotten very involved in rescue transports, so is often involved and busy on weekends. Maybe when school's out for the summer (she IS a teacher) we'll here more from her!
Oh, Liz, I am glad it was a fun gathering for you! Still wish I could have been there, but I'll just have to live vicariously for now.

Glad to hear everyone is making it home safely. We decided to spend the night at the American Coach Service Facility in Decatur, IN. They have electric hookups....and a dump station for in the morning. We'll continue on our way tomorrow and be home sometime tomorrow afternoon.
We were a bit late due to minor motorhome issues that were finally resolved (whew!) but we arrived just in time for the food! Great timing if you ask me. ;)
It was great seeing everyone again, and meeting new people. Two observances. Bowzer is shorter than he appears in pictures, and Bon is bigger than he appears in pictures!
For some reason I left my camera in the motorhome and didn't get any pictures at all - doh! So I'm patiently awaiting everyone else's pictures also.
Had a great time - as usual - and it was great seeing everyone again. :D

Kiara, Dad, and I are pooped out in a Super 8 motel - somewhere on the way to Cinci. I think the city is Wakapeto or something... too tired to find out. Has to be the nicest motel I've stayed at - rooms are clean, it's quiet, pet friendly, and they even have a place for us to park with our camper.
"Free" wireless internet and still cheaper than any of the other hotels we checked on the way to this one.
Other than Phred & the gang - Dad, Kiara, & I were the last ones out.
Thank you everyone... had a great time. Dumb me didn't start taking pictures until later in the day so I missed many of the pups who left earlier. :(
Posting a few favorites, though...
1. Bad a$$ Mark and his bad a$$ dog. :p
2. Gina of Gina's Ark giving Ki a big hug. :D
3. When some of the pups cleared, Ki decided to lay in the kiddy pool, which most of you saw she wanted nothing to do with previously.
4. Sherman! Isn't he just amazing? Love that boy!
5. Keegan knows what's best.. FRESH water!

a rescue a thon all rescues are invited to come and set up.hopefully we will be able to find these babies a new home.I will be willing to do home checks on the dogs.
for most of you the national dachshund race raises funds for places.
each year I try to find those in need to send them funds.

It was so nice meeting you all, Ruby and Justin both had a great time as well. Ruby was/is POOPED, she slept through the 4 hour drive home... and she and Justin still haven't woken up since falling asleep the near instant we walked into the house last night.
I've enjoyed looking at all the photos posted, I'm going to look through the albums as soon as I finish writing this :D I'm working on uploading mine, I'll post a link ASAP.
Again, we had a great time yesterday! I'm glad to hear you guys made it home safe. We look forward to seeing you all again! :D
Great pictures everyone! Anna, you did a great job capturing the event. Don't be so hard on yourself! I love the last one of Bon. It sort of says it all! LOL! Looks like a great day even with the heat!

I don't feel so bad now for forgetting my camera since you did it too. :)
I really feel like it's a tribute to all the dog folks that all the dogs got
along so well.I was a little worried that Smokey wouldn't drink any water
at the park. It was so hot & I know he was having a good time, but think
maybe he was just over excited. He really attacked the water dish when
we walked in the door here. They both ate, drank lots of water, then slept
straight through the evening. They are still snoozing in the AC at home. :)
I sure wish I lived closer to the park, I'd probably go everyday.

refused, but Maggie drank, then I unleashed her & put her in the car. She

Sorry it took me so long to get my pics uploaded. My nieces are still here and they keep me busy  . We finally sat down this evening and put them on imagestation.
We had lots of fun and I was so happy to see the regulars and thrilled to meet the newcomers. We want to thank Anna and Kay for the wonderful gift bags. My dogs loved them. Anna, Katie has been carrying around one of those tiny stuffies like it is a baby or something. Sometimes she keeps the whole thing in her mouth and all you can see is the tag sticking out. I have to keep a close eye on her, gotta make sure she doesn't swallow it. We put it up and she gets it right back out and totes it around everywhere with her.
Damika, Tangie and I want to shout out a great big happy birthday again for Roxey, Kaige and Crayola!!

I would love to take credit for making those yummy dog treats, but it wasn't me who baked them. I had given the recipe to Anna awhile back and when she told me she was making some to put in the goody bags I teasingly gave her a hard time about passing the treats off as her own and not letting people know that the recipe came from me. Uhhh..and to pay me back she put the picture of me on the back of the recipe attached to each bag along with "recipe courtesy of robilee". I think I will be more careful about giving that girl a hard time...LOL.

Has it been so long that Staci or I were in CA that you don't remember us?!?
Of course we would let you come! Closest airport to Findlay is probably Toledo (~45-1 hour from Dog Park, ~25 minutes from me), although Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, Cleveland ( all in Ohio) and Detroit (Michigan) are all within 3 hours.
Don't know when the next meeting will be...maybe sometime in July, although that is sometimes smaller if there isn't a Holiday. Labor Day (1st weekend of September) is usually a big one too.

We welcome anyone and everyone at the Findlay meeting - even CATS! Yes, we have had a kitty visitor, too.
Debby & Terry attended this meeting - a completely kitty home and dog-free. Sirrahbed & Sirrahned attended one of the previous meetings. So, the Findlay meetings aren't *dog only* people. A lot of the happenings are doggie-related, though. :)

But what Ginger's Mom doesn't know is Huney is definitely Anna's dog - or should I say, Anna is definitely Huney's human. If Anna isn't within the dog park fence, you can find her easily by looking for Huney and seeing which way her nose is pointing! When Anna's IN the dog park area, it's different and she acts like she doesn't care, but as soon as she exits the fence, Huney becomes an Anna compass!
I would like to put the pictures of my dogs at the end of my e-mail like the rest of you did.how can I do this?Toni

I can't find any pics of it but I know someone has taken them before but you can always tell when Anna or I are on the other side of the fence and our dogs are on the INSIDE of the fence - they usually line up together! ;) :p
Cept this time it was too HOT and Keegan gave up after awhile!

He he...Karen you definitely remember my Huney girl:D This time Robin's nieces had to bring her into the park (she was with Mark, Roxey & Bon at the pavilion) because she couldn't find her mommy
Oh yes, I think Keegan, Kia and Huney are the three mommas girls at the park!

Yupper Kia too - she made a break for thru the dog proof fence (ha ha) and made it straight to her mom - Tori was attempting to follow in the husky part of Kia's footsteps but I said I am not sure she would do what Kia did! :p

OMG...thank God she didn't get out! Thanks for stopping her Staci. We probably never would have seen her again  .
And..about Huney..you guys are also going to have to fight my 9 year old niece for her. Damika adores Huney and even had to use a special leash that she had bought at Pawzfest to walk her around..lol. What is really funny about this Huney talk is that just today Damika said...."Huney is one of my very favorites, but ya know, she is such a momma's dog." So funny that I come on here and you guys are talking about that..lol.
Staci, that picture is so cute. Is that Jasmine? When was that taken? Now you have me going through some of the older findlay pictures..lol.

well I think it was a group effort to stop Tori - I think I "yelled" at her to stop and she did lol - I know the feeling - I could tell you stories of my greyhound Shaianne! oiiii
and that picture is of Jasmine and Keegan last year at Labor when you were too lazy to come! :p (YOUR WORDS NOT MINE! - I would have never remembered you posting that if I hadn't just READ it lol)

I think she saw her opperunity when Jennifer was trying to get out with her crew! She blended in with the mix!
And I think if anyone laid a "first" claim on Huney, it was Spot!!! I don't think he tried to hump her at all this time, but I did catch him following her every step around the park a few times. Ah, puppy love!! ;)

I left one of my lawn chairs there, a green one in a bag. Hopefully some one can put it to good use. I think I might of left my "dog towel" there too, for drying off the paws for the paw prints on the get well cards. Good thing my head is attatched isn't it? :p lol
Didn't notice that until I got back & was unpacking my van. lol
I had to come home from vacation a few days earlier than I wanted as my nephew is getting the pump inserted today. It's a pager sized machine that is hooked to his side 24/7 and tests his insulin every minute. Still very far from a cure but it does eliminate a TON of finger pricks! I'm so happy for them. That is much more important than a vacation!
Hopefully I can at least get my pics loaded today into an album somewhere for yous to look at.
Boy oh boy do I have a lof of pics, I have well over 300 from my vacation, at least 125 of them from the dog park. I also have a lot of threads to catch up on here at PT. :p

Hi Sue, glad to hear that you made it home safely. Sorry to hear that you had to cut your vacation short, but I do hope that the pump works well for your nephew. Can't wait to see all of your pictures. I love seeing all of those gorgeous dogs and people. Glad to see so many new people made it (Kaige, Marta etc.).
Phred mentions in post #440 that he found your chair. :) I think you are just going to have to go to the next Findlay meet to get it (just kidding :) ).

That just means you'll have to come back to Findlay to get it! ;)

There's no kidding about it, I will be at another Findlay meeting. Not sure if I can make the next one or the one after that but I will at least be there again for next years big bash!!
If anyone can use it go right ahead. No sense in it collecting dust for a year. lol It was only $12 at walmart anyways.

Hey ya made it home safely!
Sorry you had to cut your vacation short, but it sounds like it was definitely for a good reason:) Sounds a lot better than tons of pricks!

Well the 340something pics are from the entire vacation, but I think I have at least 150 or so of the PT meeting & the night before with pat, sherman, starr & jojoe.
And yes, helping any kid in any way is always better than anything! :D
Forgot to mention that they have been on the waiting list for a pump for over a year. Kids are not supposed to have it till they have diabetes for at least 4 years OR until they are 4 years of age but since he has so much trouble with it they allowed him earlier.
Here's my album, don't have time to post any pics till next week (still have dial up at home, verizons been promising DSL for a couple months now  )
http://nanryk.zoto.com/galleries/ohio2006
(except the first pic of Indy, that one was transfered to the Ohio album by mistake, and as a reminder that album is from my vacation, including PT but not limited to PT)
